So, to continue from yesterday.
I was able to contact my roommate via the frightening application commonly known as Facebook.
Seriously, does everyone have one?
Anyway.
It would seem that Todd/Phibbs Hall has a reputation as being the "Party Dorm". Which I find hilarious, as I've never been much of a partier; I usually just hang out with friends or at home and read or play video games. Mind, when my older sister found out that I'm in a "party dorm", she told me that, before I go to any parties next year, I need to call her.
Honestly, I think that's a bit silly, since everyone I've talked to has either said that they're "not a partier" or thinks that the reputation is ridiculous, and is only because our hall has more people...
And it's co-ed by door, as luck would have it. Good, because I don't want to have a ton of girls surrounding me the whole day. That'd drive me NUTS. No, better that there are guys around, so I can be all, "Hey, guess what? I'm going to kick your ass at Halo/Team Fortress 2/RANDOMGENERICGUYGAME today." That'd be fun.
Oh! I talked with some of the friends I've already made at UPS. Hannah's another local-ish person, living on campus but in a different hall than me, and, as it turns out, she likes writing fanfiction, especially slash. That's awfully nice, and she's a sweetheart. That's going to be nice.
Meanwhile, Jessica, my other friend and fellow anime fan from Missouri [far, far away! =3], who has Japanese 101 for Advising with me and has Urban Plunge [the community service portion of Orientation] with me as well, is living NEXT DOOR to me, and her roommate apparently likes "cute little Japanese things". So, if I need to, I'm going to go over to their room
And, my roommate, Skylar? She's actually pretty nice. She's a Piano Performance major, which is cool, but she's never really watched anime or read manga. She likes art, though. I can see I've got a task ahead of me this year: introduce her to some of the more fundamental anime series.
Oh, and I'm working on forming a Japanese [Culture] club at school, as that seems to be missing, and even Jessica commented on that. I'm playing with calling it either the UPSOS Brigade [Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya reference; I still need to watch that series], the NHK [common name for Japanese clubs in college], or JAM Squad [Japanese Art and Music Squad; catchy name, don't'cha think?]. But I dunno.
Gods, I stayed up too late last night. At least I'm going to go see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince tonight. I can't fall asleep in that.
OH. And I STILL don't have my Seminar assignment, though it's looking like I got the "Arguing Through Literature" Writing and Rhetoric seminar. Still hoping on "Aesthetics and Identity in Japanese Culture" one for my Scholarly and Creative Inquiry seminar, though. Just in case.
And, the new avatar I'm using here comes from the doujinshi "Samsara", which, after reading, I have a sudden urge to translate. It was so cute! ^~^
