LATE EVENING luthored October 4 2011, 07:42:36 UTC
It hasn't been a good day, and now that she's home from work, she's just glad her house is in one piece. Lana doesn't even bother checking to see who's still at her place and who isn't instead skipping the trip upstairs and heading into the meeting with her journal and her candy bars.

She's probably going to spend a good portion of the night hiding in there, but feel free to approach her if you feel daring enough.

Lois was pretty much the definition of daring enough, always, and this was no exception. Clark was out with the dogs, and she wanted a chance to talk to Lana one on one, so this seemed as good a time as any to her.

She stood in her doorway, arms folded, leaning against the frame.

"Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes to burn the midnight oil around here."

Looking up, Lana's startled to find that...she was startled. She really must have been out of it, having abandoned the journal and was now hunched over a file. Quickly shutting it, she sat up a little straighter.

"I didn't disturb you, did I? I was trying to be quiet."

Lois gave her a reassuring half-smile, shaking her head.

"You were. I was still up." She gestured with her head back in the direction of the guest rooms. "Smallville's still sleeping, and he's got superhearing."

That made her crack a more genuine smile. "It's comforting to know I can still get by undetected now and then. How have you two been adjusting?"

She mostly was referring to Damon, but she really just hoped he'd been a sport and avoided everyone else in her house while staying over outside of the snarky comments at the dinner table. Wishful thinking, maybe...

"I think after learning to take the kinds of things the castle likes to throw at us in stride, we're pretty good adjusters, all around." Not that she didn't miss her room, and not that it wasn't a little weird to suddenly have housemates, but she'd been in worse situations before. "It's not like we've all been gathering for family dinners or anything."

With a nod, Lana pushed her chair back a bit. They had all been forced to make many adjustments what with the hijinks going on in Smallville and Metropolis, but the castle did seem to like to put everything into hyper-drive.

"I didn't want people to think that they have to operate on my schedule just because they need a place to sleep. And that would be...a lot of cooking."

"And I'm pretty sure everyone would object if I were the one who tried doing it," Lois admitted. She took a moment to scrutinize Lana out of the corner of her eye.

"You've got a nice place here."

Immediately she gets suspicious, but keeps it to herself. She knows sometimes she can be a little paranoid... Sometimes.

"Thanks. This actually used to be a warehouse, abandoned of course. Xander Harris helped me practically re-build it. ...I don't remember any of that, but the paperwork doesn't lie."

"I'd laugh at the idea of Xander and manual labor, but I do seem to recall him mentioning something about a history of construction," she said, with a smirk. "How long have you lived out here now?"

"Since I returned? Just over a year now. I had this building made my prior time here, though, hence the unused office space."
