Case 3: The Offer

Aug 24, 2011 15:25

[James is sounding oddly tired considering he hasn't been up to much recently, well not physically at least.  But he also sounds, slightly excited really.]

If anyone would like to learn another language, I am more then happy to teach you, if you would like.  As a precaution of course in case things happen again like they did the last few days.

Yes, that'd be great. I'll have time this afternoon, does that work for you?

That works fine for me, where would you like to meet?

The library might be convenient, or down in the lobby. They've decent tables and chairs to use if we go with the library.

I would say the library, decent tables and chairs would be nice if we are going to work on paper work for a while.

I'm still terribly amused that the Doctor, after spending centuries peddling across different eras of time on Earth - can't speak a bloody word of English without the TARDIS translator to aid him.

Is that why he wasn't talking much the entire time of that? He can't...how can he have gone this long without it?

[He's laughing, but trying not too.]

Pretty much. Luckily I can speak Gallifreyan, so we could communicate. I'm thinking of signing him up for one of your little classes.

And he had his other self to talk with so at least he wasn't alone the entire time. But if you like you may, and can talk him into coming, I don't mind teaching him. And if he doesn't learn from me I am pretty certain I could talk to Helen about teaching him.

[Of course if it is debatable if the class would stay true to just the language being taught with James and the Doctor, but at least it wouldn't be boring.]

[Recognize this voice? She sounds rather relieved right about now.]

I was considering seeking out a tutor. These past few days were not an experience I desire to repeat.

[He was wondering if she would answer him after their little talk from before.]

I am not surprised to hear from you. I am more then happy too, Lady Galadriel, are you considering learning English?

I am. It seems to be the most common tongue in this place.

English is one of the most prevalent languages on many permutations of Earth it seems, so it is hardly a surprise. It can take some time to learn but it is good to know.

Oh, I am more than up to it, especially now that I can actually communicate effectively. I might have to make up for three days of near silence.

[He's laughing a little at that.]

Well then, I am more then happy to assist you in that if you would like. Though if any sort of demonstrations are done, I would suggest possibly somewhere other then my room, just to be safe. [He's not entirely certain what Helen would say if she walked in and saw Felix working his magic.]

[Chuckles in turn]

To be safe? I promise I won't break anything, but if it would ease your mind we can meet anywhere you like.

I may take you up on the offer. Sadly the one person with whom I'd really like to speak with doesn't speak English either...unless you could teach him as well.

No, no it's not fear of breaking anything, I've just, recently acquired a roommate, and I'm not entirely positive how she would take to it if she walked in and saw it.

I am happy to teach you both English if you would like, or whatever language you would like to learn. I can speak French, German, Japanese and Italian as well if either of you two would prefer to learn them.

[Tesla sounds annoyed, as if James Watson was just another fly buzzing around in his ear.]

I know. Thanks for reminding me.

[And a frustrated huff.] I was going to set up a college fund for them and make them live happy lives among normal people. What do you think?!

[He's not sure if he should laugh or chide him for that tone of voice, he settles on something in between.]

So you're not looking to go back to sneaking into her bedroom on a whim with the Sanctuary lacking power?

[ It's his subtle way of figuring out where Nikola sits in the time line.]

I know what you were thinking, and if it worked, it would have been a brilliant plan actually. Use them to control the world, good plan. So where did you house the fail safe? [A huffy Nikola is no fun, and he's in far too good a mood for it to be ruined because of him, so he's trying to piece things together.]

[That first question genuinely confuses him, and it shows in the tone of his voice.]

What? When did that happen?

[Not that he wouldn't sneak into her bedroom on a whim, nope.]

Why are you asking? It's not like you'll find it here. Besides, things were going swimmingly with them. Why would I ever use the fail-safe if everything was going to plan?

[He's from before the events of Sleepers, derp derp.]

[That just tells him he's farther back, isn't that swell? Too bad really, he had been hoping Nikola could have told him more about this map of Evelyn's, and Worth.]

Somewhere in your future, after the incident with the trust fund vampires, and...the results of that.

[Oh no of course not, but he can have a fun time of that considering the current living arrangements he and Helen had.]

Because I am genuinely curious as to where you would think Helen would look when she....[A pause and then a short little laugh.] Dear boy, you haven't the faintest idea of your fate with that little plot do you?

[Oh poor Nikola, and sadly James knows what happens to him during that.]
