Fear can be based on pretty sure knowledge. People fear bad stuff happening because it's happened all the times before, and it's pretty damn sure it'll happen again. Everyone dies eventually and it hurts to lose them, but it don't stop you from making friends does it?
Yeah, it's weird, don't you think? Nothing else works, and it seems like we truly get out of the castle's influence. Unless it's just psyching us out wanting us to think that, but we're getting into the territory of "a bit overcomplicated" there.
Oho, someone new! Well, right now what I want to do is put together an outpost project. Basically, at this point, two buildings, one just over the border, putting it in the Dead Zone, for observing the castle, and one just inside the border, serving as a place where magic work can be done and guests an stay and such, since that kind of stuff doesn't work outside the edge of the castle's power. Basically, right now we're starting from scratch; the outpost in the power boundary should be easy enough, but the one outside in the Dead Zone will take hard labor.
Whoa whoa slow down lady. I know there was some expedition team thing that went into that "Dead Zone" place and ran into a bit of trouble. I don't really know what happened, but from what I hear it was pretty gruesome. Is that true? Also, what's all this about magic borders?
Haven't been here long, have you? The Dead Zone is outside the border of the castle's power. Magic and technology doesn't work there, but castle changes also might not extend there, making it ideal for observation.
I was on the expedition team, and... things... well. Will hopefully be handled better next time.
Hmm. I'd prefer to oversee logistics rather than lead people directly - it's never been what I'd call a strong suit of mine to control those over school-age. Working in the background, so to speak.
...And I quite agree that keeping busy is preferable to the alternative.
That'd be fine! You don't have to go it alone, after all. I'll be backing you up... and hopefully some other people too, if they say yes. I just don't want it all to be on me, you know? Just in case.
[leaving that second bit, but just. silently agreeing.]

No, the sooner the better, of course. What did you have in mind?

As for you, you're a leader here, Raine. Is there anything you'd want to do? Organizing people, I guess? Overseeing a certain part?
