Working Hard vs.Hardly Working

Yesterday was my first Hazmat shoot. I would post some pictures from my phone, but being a cheap bastard makes t hard, because I'd either harve to get a paid LJ account or open a mobile email account on my phone. I'm trying to decide which would be cheaper and more efficient, but so far, doing neither and remaining a cheap bastard has prevailed. I should have just brought my digital camera and cut out the middleman.

Frank (one of the production guys) and I drove and hours to the shoot in Lakewood, WA. The shoot was supposed to start at 2:00 pm, but we sat around on a curb outside until 4:30 waiting for things to start. The fire fighters finally came out and got into the full Level A suits like these:

and started the drill, but the Decon team in the Level B suits like these:

DIDNT PUT ON THEIR DAMN HOODS OR GLOVES. We have to make the videos according to regulation, so we can't use any shots from decontamination. Small departments aren't as formal with their drills, especially late in the day following a written test. The medic guys weren't even in full uniform (one was even wearing flip flops). They also used dummies instead of people as the victims which will fuck with the footage a bit. That blows. We also can't use some footage because they were joking and laughing, but you can't blame them for having a little fun.

So overall, my first real shoot was a bust. I got a shitty sunburn with some ridiculous tan lines because we had to stay outside the whole time; didn't sleep too well as a result. We did get some footage we can use and I had some fun, too, but it won't amount to much in the end. Oh well, at least I got out of the office... and I get reimbursed for the gas!
