Okay, so on a whim (after looking at our bank account), I decided it was time to be proactive. I plotted my comeback as a piano teacher, with the added benefits of theory and history lessons and tutoring. I posted some free online adverts. I made pretty posters, with those tear-off thingies on the bottom.
But alas (a sad lass) this is not a small town and NO ONE has public poster-boards anymore!!! I'm so used to just showing up at the local convenience store and taping something to the front of the counter. Or the window. Or a post. We paced all of the magical Londonderry Mall, and NOTHING: grocery store: no; library: nothing for profit; Mr. Entertainment: advertising their own lessons; poster-board: for Londonderry jobs only. Only Safeway, closer to home, had a much packed bulletin board behind glass (so much for the rippy-offy things, but it's a start). I was a bit blue last night, but perhaps it's time to roll with the punches a bit more - I guess the day after I start my business I can't expect the world to drop everything and give me a call. It'd just be nice if there were free poster-boards around.
Today: Archives, with the "comic book guys"; find places for more posters.
Tomorrow and Thursday: Proctoring exams for Loyalist College. Sean is trying to convince me to go in and introduce myself with "Hello, I'm Pants, and I will be your proctologist this morning." I think that would be nice. There is one guy writing the exam, so I'm a bit excited to post the "Please leave one seat between you and the next person" sign. I might bring a book, but it would also be fun just to stare at him for the full three hours. Or watch him and pretend to take notes every few minutes.
Keep eyes peeled on the Globe & Mail - BD was interviewed by them last week, for a big article on folk music (and our album!). Hooray, hurrah, and everything in between!
