I love Saturday mornings....

Such a hectic week...both cats had to go to the vets, I had an old friend in from out of town, endless studying, and started helping a friend set up his new bookkeeping system. Today, however, is mine all mine! Save for a bit of reading for my "The Enlightenment" class, I have nothing on the schedule. So today will be spent drinking tea, and reading my newest acquisition, "Still Mystified," by LJ's own missprune. I can't wait to get started!

It was wonderful visiting with my dear friend Julia. We've been in touch by phone, but hadn't seen each other since I left for Syracuse in February. We shared a bottle of champagne and laughed the night away. I miss the sense of closeness that my female friends once bestowed on me. Rose is now in Colorado, Schmoopie is in Montana,Meghan now resides in Florida, and Julia, Amy, Kathy, Lynn, and Meaghan are all in Geneseo. In the stillness of the evening, I try to recapture those wonderful memories of pot luck meals, sharing secrets, getting giddy and honest after a glass (or two) of wine...What a difference a year or two can make. Thank goodness for cellphones; those numbers do not have to be changed every time someone moves.

Here's a new twist on the traditional peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It makes for a nice fall lunch:

Two slices thick cut bread
Planter's peanuts
Stawberries
Strawberry Preserves

Spread one side bread with peanut butter, top with fresh sliced strawberries and sprinkle with peanuts. Top with other slice of bread which has been spread with strawberry preserves. Enjoy!

I became so addicted to these when we had them at Lunahsea, that it was all I ate for a month!
