Videos and plumbing woes

Our plumbing is a mess. I had to get the plumber to come out after the playdate, because it was completely backed up. Apparently the original builders didn't install the plumbing correctly (surprise, surprise), and the pipe fell off outside the house, so our drain isn't even draining properly - half of it is going out into the soil! Yuck! So now we have to rush to beat the soil freezing and dig up our front yard and under the porch to fix the main house drain. Incidentally, this is also what is making our front porch sink down in the middle, and they're going to shore it up while they're in there. Again, not surprisingly, they didn't even bother to put cement foundations under the porch - it's just 4x4s into the soil. Ugh. So, there goes thousands of dollars. Oh, the joys of home ownership.
We also just dropped $350 on our cat to have an ultrasound. They thought she might have pancreatitis or a tumor in her pancreas because she had some elevated hormone levels. Turns out, she doesn't. That's some good news. The changes we've made in her diet have apparently fixed all her inflammation problems, so we will not have another dead kitty soon. Yay!
I'm still bummed about all the expenses though. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.
