So everyone I know is blogging and twittering about the fact that Arthur C Clarke died today. While that is sad, I didn't know him. I did know Anthony Minghella and he unfortunately died today at the young age of 54 - he hemorrhaged out from an operation to remove a lump on his neck. According to the Times of London:

Saddam is dead. I feel like I should write something poignant, but I just don't have it in me right now. I cannot stop thinking about how his martyrdom is going to inflame the civil war. I found this obituary today in the Portales newspaper and am copying it here for posterity because I don't know how long it will last. Because the funeral is on Monday, I cannot go as I'm training my replacement that day. I wish I could go, I'm sorry that I won't be there to support kragen and his family in this time of mourning. kragen's grandfather died today. This was only months after his grandmother. We will be going to NM after our party, leaving pretty much from there, or shutting down a little early and we'll get back on Monday morning - I'll be an hour late for work ( Read more... )

My sister's water broke last night! Things are getting closer and are for real this time. Yay!!!!!!!

kragen, x_rumour_x, phyxius & I all made it safely to New Mexico last night and the funeral is this afternoon.
