Michael Smuin and Zorro Dancers
Chronicle File photo by Lacy Atkins, 2003. I just was reading SFGate.com and found out that Michael Smuin died. How incredibly sad. If you don't know who he was, he was a great choreographer in the Bay Area. He had his own dance company, the Smuin Ballet and his pieces were always interesting to go watch. Not only was he a brilliant artist, but he was a family friend and I always enjoyed spending time with him. He was a kind and generous man and I am sorry that he is no longer among the living. I am glad that he died doing what he loved best - working with dancers. My meager condolences go out to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
