I have the freaking coolest job in the world (at this moment anyway)!!!! So I found out today that the hotel I work at, Congress Plaza Hotel off of Michigan Ave, is the second most haunted place in Chicago!! I'm so stoked to work there over the next week until the effect of this wears off! The reason I found this out: a woman called down to say she had just seen a ghost on the fifth floor of the North tower. She was walking down the corridor when she saw a woman with curly hair like Shirley Temple's and dressed in a manor clearly not of this era. When the woman walked by the apparition, she smelled something like rotting flesh and turned around to look at the figure as it walked past. The ghost then must have sensed that the woman had stopped because it then turned around and looked at the woman. This is when the woman noticed the thing had no eyes, only empty sockets. I guess stuff like this happens fairly often here, and I can't wait to hear about more! Oh! And one of the neatest things, I need to take a tour of the place in order to know where things are and to know what the rooms look like, and one of my managers agreed to take me on the tour on Halloween night at about 10:30 p.m. before I leave for the night. I know I probably won't see anything, but I'm still incredibly excited about walking around the place anyway. Just knowing that this place has sent Marines running makes me so much more motviated to work there.
