Title: My Moon My Man
Author: Sharmie
Rating: PG-13 because Rich Fulcher swears like a motherbitch.
Summary: The Man on the Moon is rescued by a local astronaut.
Notes: Leah is hypnotized. That's the explanation that. :)

“I’m a fucking astronaut,” sang Rich Fulcher, floating out in space.
“Why can I hear that?” asked Leah, staring through the telescope in Noel’s room. It was pointed directly at the Moon, where the man on the Moon was being taunted by an astronaut.
“Magic telescope,” said Noel helpfully.
“Interesting,” said Leah. At this moment, the man on the moon stared at Leah through the telescope, so his gaze was magnified to her soul. She jerked back a little.
“Ack,” she said, looking fearfully at Noel. “The Man on the Moon was staring at me again.”
“He’s a bit of a peeping tom,” said Noel, frowning.
“To be fair,” said Leah, “I was peeping at him this time. But he started it.”
“Yes, but he shouldn’t be looking in bedroom windows when people are changing.”
“He’s never done that to me!” she cried, a little creeped out.
“That you know know of,” said Noel. Leah gave him a strange look as he nudged her aside to look through the telescope.

“Hey Moon Man!” called Rich Fulcher, floating near him in his space suit.
“May I help you?” asked the Man on the Moon.
“What the fuck are you doing up there?”
“I’m stuck,” he replied, frowning.
“I could just pull you off the moon,” said Rich Fulcher.
“I’ll be a social outcast,” said the Man dramatically. “I couldn’t live in society. And the only people I know are in that house down there.”
“I’ll drop you there, tiny moon man.”
“My name is Matt Berry and I’m perfectly normal sized, you’re just not close enough to be able to tell.”

“Wow,” said Noel. “I think someone is going to rescue that man on the moon.”
“Oh good,” said Leah. “At least then he won’t look through our windows anymore.”
And so the two of them went off to eat popcorn and watch Xanadu.
Just then, Sharmie came in. A bright light illuminated the otherwise dark living room from down the stairs.
“What is that?” asked Leah, peering around the corner.
“No idea,” said Noel.
“And then I told him to go through the archway, which was, I think, some sort of passageway to Australia. Let’s see him find his way back now! Haha!”
Sharmie was standing in the entranceway with the man from the moon, who was illuminating the dark house with his glowing person.
“Hello...?” said Leah as she and Noel came down the stairs.
Matt Berry lit up a bit more at the sight of her, in the sense of actual brightness, and not just the grin plastered on his face.
“Hello,” he replied, sort of half bowing at her. She looked confused.
“He did that to me too,” said Sharmie. “I think he’s forgotten this isn’t 1888.”
“I’m Matt Berry,” he said, extending his hand towards her. She shook it slowly.
“Sorry to barge in,” he continued, “but I’ve only just been rescued from the moon, and I don’t know anyone else in this area. I was wondering if I could just come in and collect my bearings while I wait for my flat mate to come pick me up?”
“That’s fine,” said Sharmie. “Would you like some tea?”
“That would be wonderful,” he said, following her into the kitchen. Leah followed them, curious by this new arrival. Noel followed too, but more with the intent of having some of the tea. They all sat around the table except for Sharmie who leaned against the counter eating cheese strings.
“Soooo,” said Sharmie. “Matt Berry, do you go to school here?”
“Yes,” he said. “I’m doing a master’s thesis on people and the moon. But I sort of got trapped there on my last research project.”
“That’s awful,” said Leah.
“it was cold and lonely, out there on the moon,” he said. “But I loved looking at the stars, and the beauty of the universe... Often, to amuse myself, I would sing while looking into the rooms of your house.” This was awkward for a moment, until he began to sing. “Words are flying out like endless rain into a paper cup. They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe...”
“I kind of love you,” said Leah, in response to his beautiful voice singing the Beatles.
“Thanks,” said Matt Berry with a grin. Leah twirled her hair around her finger and grinned at him some more. He raised a suggestive eyebrow at her.
“Oh get a room,” huffed Sharmie. She was annoyed because Richard hadn’t come ‘round lately, most likely because he was protecting them from evil, but this didn’t stop her from being moody and a little lonely. She wandered off to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer on her laptop. Noel snuck his cup of tea into his room, leaving Leah and Matt Berry sitting at the table.
“Too bad I glow like this,” he said finally. “I bet you think I look like a berk.”
“Not really,” said Leah. “It’s no big deal, really.” And with a little spark of courage (or insanity, depending on how you looked at it) she didn’t know she had, she gave him a little kiss on the cheek. And his glowing cut in half.
“Oh!” he said, both surprised (and happy) at the kiss. And at the fact that he glowed less. “I think,” he said slyly, “The more kisses I get from you the more normal I become.”
“That’s a plus,” said Leah. “I wasn’t sure if I should give you another one, but since it’s for a good cause, restoring your place in society...” She leaned over to give him another kiss on the cheek, but he turned his face and kissed her on the mouth.
Then Sharmie walked in.
“This is what I get for wanting some juice,” she said. But neither of them cared much because Matt Berry had stopped glowing. Sharmie left again.
“Thanks,” he said to Leah.
“You’re welcome,” she replied.
“Do you think this kissing thing could be a regular occurrence between us?”
“I guess so,” she said. “Also maybe you could do more singing. I really love that.”
“Of course,” he said.

And then Rich Fulcher came in.
“You’re welcome for bringing you off the moon, you shitty shit face shit shit.”
“Oh right,” said Matt Berry. “Thanks? I suppose you were helpful, if somewhat brutish and profane.”
“Everyone loves my charm!” said Rich Fulcher loudly.
“Not as much as mine,” said Matt Berry.
“Everybody shush,” said Leah. “Matt’s got the best kind of charm anyways.”
“Oh fine,” said Rich Fulcher, turning to leave. “But you haven’t heard the last of Rich Fulcher!” He left.
“Didn’t he put out a fire in your house once?” Matt Berry asked.
“Yeah,” said Leah. “I guess Fireman is his day job?”

THE END.
