A/N: Bahaha. SERIOUSLY, chemistry!suju fic … I am lame. Haha. Dedicated to
thenummyone because she’s currently going crazy with Orgo, while I sit here writing crack XD
Cho KyuHyun was, currently, hunched over his desk with three enormous organic chemistry text books, papers filled with chemical equations, a 6 pack of Redbull and two venti Starbucks coffees with 3 extra shots of espresso surrounding him. KyuHyun had a Chemistry final in exactly 7 hours, 42 minutes, and 4 seconds, and he had only read about 54 out of the 362 pages, not to mention he hadn’t even started on the homework problems. Yeah, he was pretty much doomed, but he had caffeine on his side, and the abundance of pink on his roommate’s side of the room was, definitely, keeping him wide eyed.
He leaned back slightly on his wooden chair to stretch his arms. He turned to the right and viewed his roommate, SungMin’s, side of the room. Every single thing on his side was a shade of pink. From the lamp shade to the pale pink book covers he insisted to use, (he said Calculus was more exciting in pink, anyways), no other colour other than pink existed. KyuHyun sighed. It was, definitely, NOT fair that SungMin was out karaokeing while he was stuck in this tiny dorm room with thousands of equations and facts to memorize. In fact, it was SungMin’s fault that he hadn’t studied earlier. He was the one that dragged him out to soju bar nights, random late night beach trips, and karaokeing until dawn for the past few months.
KyuHyun pushed his black rimmed glasses back up, and looked at the clock: 2:08AM. He did a double take and stared at the digital clock, as if it would magically turn back 5 hours and he would’ve clearly been at the dorm studying rather than at the park with YehSung and RyeoWook trying to release goldfishes into the pond. Okay, maybe not because seeing Ryeowook jump in the pond and trying to save the poor fishes was priceless, but hey, wishful thinking.
Just as KyuHyun was about to find out whether or not third degree carbons were more stable than one degree carbons, EunHyuk and DongHae (how in the hell were they not going crazy studying and overdosing on caffeine, at this very moment?!) stumbled into the room giggling holding a very tipsy and pink SungMin.
“KyuHyun-ah!” EunHyuk laughed as he made his way towards him to give him a hug, whilst dropping SungMin and letting DongHae carry SungMin’s weight, which really didn’t work out too well considering DongHae had reached his alcohol limit and thus both he and SungMin fell to the floor. “Oh,” EunHyuk said, with one arm on KyuHyun’s shoulder and the other pointing at the pair on the ground. “Hey, why does your room have all these spots everywhere?” he asked, trying to catch one of the spots that he could only see in the air.
“Yah!” KyuHyun cried out, as he got up from his seat, “How can you go karaokeing when there’s a FINAL, tomorrow?!” He went over and grabbed the two boys on the ground, still clad in their school uniform and reeking of soju, and pulled them up in a sitting position.
DongHae latched onto KyuHyun’s arm and dragged him down to sit next to him. “Hehehehe! KyuHyun-ah! Your cheeks aren’t very chubby! I’ll make them fat for you!” which is when he decided to pinch KyuHyun’s cheeks, as if he were a toddler. “And your hair is blonde, now! Since when?” DongHae then proceeded to pull at KyuHyun’s hair until he had two prominent spikes on top. “Hahaha! You look like a blonde alien now!” he giggled to himself, but then his face became very serious, and he leaned in very closely. “You’re not REALLY an alien, are you?”
KyuHyun rolled his eyes and pushed DongHae down, so that he wasn’t invading his personal space, anymore. “Yes, I am, and I’m here to take you back to my home planet KyuMinSujuChul,” he said sarcastically.
A loud gasp echoed throughout the small room. “Noooooo!” wailed DongHae, as he leapt up and ran to EunHyuk’s side, and pushed him towards KyuHyun. “Take him!”
EunHyuk gave a look of surprise at his friend, “Yah! Why me? Some friend you are!” He then pushed DongHae in front of him. “They came for you, specifically!” The two boys continued to banter for a few more minutes as to who would be taken back to the Planet of KyuMinSujuChul.
“Enough!” KyuHyun cried out.
The two boys looked up and stared at the blonde boy.
KyuHyun grabbed three empty cans of Redbull and shoved it in their faces. “There, if you keep those, we won’t come looking for you.”
EunHyuk and DongHae, reluctantly, took the cans out of his hands (you could never be too careful with aliens, especially the blonde ones). The two of them held the cans at arm length and waved them around the room, as if an invisible shield was projecting out of them. Every time, the cans were pointed at KyuHyun’s direction, he would step back a few steps just to prove that they were working. The two boys squealed in delight and slurred about having alien protectors and how they would be rich, very soon.
“Good! Now go back to your rooms and stay there and study for your exam,” KyuHyun said, as he shooed them away from a distance.
“Okay~,” DongHae replied, as he tried to walk in a straight line out of the room, but failed about halfway when he tripped over SungMin.
“Eh? What about SungMin?” EunHyuk whispered loudly to DongHae.
DongHae tried to get up gracefully but his drunken state was not helping. “Well, we don’t want him getting kidnapped and taken to Plant KyuMinSujuChul!” he then turned around towards KyuHyun and pointed his two cans of empty Redbull at him. “Yah! Don’t do anything to Minnie-ah! Or we’ll come back with more cans!”
“Yeah! And maybe, we’ll bring Coke and Sprite cans, as well,” EunHyuk chirped.
KyuHyun nodded and lifted his hands up in defeat. “Promise.”
The two boys looked at one another in approval, and then surprisingly left the room without tripping or breaking anything.
KyuHyun sighed and ruffled his hair in frustration. EunHae were possibly the most annoying twats in the world, and how they were going to pass the final tomorrow was beyond him. But, at the moment, he had other matters to take care of. Matters that were currently on the floor, leaning against the bed and giving him a very dazed smile.
“KyuHyun-ah~, come sit beside me!” SungMin said, emphasizing his point by patting the empty space next to him with exaggerated pats.
KyuHyun arched an eyebrow in response and sudden realization dawned on him. SungMin, ordinarily, was a very happy and flirty person, but when he had too many bottles of soju, his happiness and flirtatious factor escalated about ten times more. Usually, KyuHyun welcomed the random friendly kiss on the cheek and hug from his friend, but tonight had to be the WORST night to come home drunk and ridiculously horny. All he wanted to do was pass his exam and never even look at conjugate bases and acids for the next year, but the look on SungMin’s face was not promising that.
“Urm, sorry, SungMin, but we have that Chemistry exam, tomorrow, remember?” he replied, pointing at his, ridiculously, messy desk.
SungMin gave a careless wave at his desk. “Aish~ just sit next to me tomorrow and you’ll get at least a 70, I promise.”
KyuHyun gawked at the boy below him and started to sputter, “I … you can’t … cheating … that’s … NO!” He then scurried over to his desk to try and concentrate on electron withdrawing groups.
SungMin smiled drunkenly at KyuHyun’s response, and tried to steadily get up, but failed, and fell back on the floor.
KyuHyun shook his head. Honestly, of ALL nights, he just HAD to choose this night. He didn’t care if they had finally added BoA to the list of karaoke songs, there was a final tomor-okay, well, today, and he just wanted at least a 51!
He scrambled out of his chair to help SungMin up and onto his pink bed. When he tried to get up to return to his studies, SungMin pulled him back down.
“Yah! I have 300 pages left to read!” he argued, as he tried to escape from SungMin’s surprisingly tight grasp, but he wouldn’t relent.
“You’ve been studying too long,” he countered and leaned in, “plus, your eyes are getting red, I think you need a study break.” He didn’t wait for an answer and pulled off KyuHyun’s glasses and laid them aside.
“The exam is in six hours! I can’t afford a study break! I need caffeine, actually, maybe, I should go and get another green tea latte, or maybe another RedBull will do the trick-”
SungMin quickly covered KyuHyun’s mouth with his hand to stop his pre-exam hysterics. “Shush, maybe you need some soju or something to calm you down,” he said with a bit of a slur, the alcohol finally rubbing off just a bit.
KyuHyun shoved SungMin’s hand away from his mouth. “Are you crazy? Do you WANT me to fail Chemistry?”
He smiled in response. “You need a break,” he said, slowly enunciating each word and then looking towards the coffee and energy drinks on the desk, “and no more caffeine heightened drinks for you, you’re getting very antsy.”
KyuHyun stared at SungMin. He was right, the caffeine was pumping through his blood and he couldn’t stand just sitting there like a limp doll; he needed to do something, grab something, shake something, anything.
“Right, I’m sure you know more than you think,” SungMin said softly, as he scooted closer to his roommate. “Now, tell me, the more stable the conjugate base, the more blank the acid?”
“Urm … stronger?” KyuHyun said tentatively.
SungMin’s eyes lit up, and moved a teensy bit closer. “Good! Now, the weaker the acid, the further blank the equilibrium.”
“The further to the left?” KyuHyun asked, hopefully.
“Correct! Now name 3 electron withdrawing groups,” he replied, placing a hand on KyuHyun’s knee.
KyuHyun glanced at the hand on his knee, but wracked his brain for the groups “Umm … alkyl, halogen and carbon?”
“See! You do know, a lot! I think it’s time for a break,” SungMin declared and without even waiting for a reply from KyuHyun, he leaned over and placed his lips over his and kissed him.
KyuHyun was in complete shock and had no idea how to react in the first few seconds. He was usually a shy and tentative boy, but maybe it was the caffeine high, or the endless amounts of chemical equations running through his head, but he leaned in closer and moved his mouth against SungMin’s. He could smell the soju and chocolate on his breath (SungMin liked to have alcohol with chocolate, it said it made him feel like a queen), which only made KyuHyun want more.
It wasn’t until KyuHyun found himself lying on his back with only his red tie around his neck and boxers on, and an equally unclothed SungMin (save for the pale pink boxers he wore) that he realized that he had an exam to study for.
He pulled his lips away from an eager SungMin and took heaving breaths before saying, “I have an exam to study for!”
SungMin nipped at his neck. “It can wait, you’re on a study break.”
“But, I really do need to-”
“Chemistry is a very hands-on subject, KyuHyun-ah,” SungMin said, very seriously.
“Urm, well, yes,” he agreed.
“So, you’ve had about 3 cans of RedBull and a venti coffee from Starbucks, right?”
KyuHyun nodded.
“There must be a lot of caffeine running through your veins, right now, and you don’t seem like yourself, at all, do you?”
KyuHyun paused. It was true. He was not the type to succumb to advances from boys, nor was he the type to pursue them, either. But, he was on a complete high, and at the time, it seemed as if the only way to come down from this high was to do something, and that something was right in front of him. But kissing SungMin had the opposite effect, he had never felt so exhilarated in his life. “No, I really don’t.”
SungMin smiled, as he leaned down. “Well, let’s pursue this further and see just how far the effects of caffeine will take you.” And then he kissed him, again.
Even though KyuHyun was clearly studying for ORGANIC chemistry, and what SungMin said didn’t relate at all to what the course was about, he gave in.
He pushed against SungMin slightly and whispered, “Okay, but this study break ends in exactly 30 minutes.”
SungMin smirked. “Okay, that’s, definitely, enough time to finish our hands on experiment.”
