Otherwise I could have found a curtained nook and curled up with it, because today was so the day for wimping out on the walk. It had been raining all day, and was rather more than just showery as the time for the walk came round.
I can deal with rain on the walk providing it hasn't been doing it non-stop for hours and turning the Common into a quagmire. Because the soil is light and sandy rain drains away quite quickly, but not in the present circumstances. Walking is not a lot of fun when you have to keep your eyes on your feet and your footing because of puddles and slippery mud.
So I stayed in, and then, when it stopped raining, just about the time that the walk would have been arriving back, took myself out for a turn in the open air within the grounds (quite squishy enough going), just to get out and taken some gentle exercise.
It is now turning positively sunny and bright - hope this lasts.
