Doglike devotion

Barbara Cartland's son (he must be fairly ancient, surely?) responds to the recently unearthed accusation that she was plagiarising Georgette Heyer liek woah: "I've never heard that story. It's more likely, I would have thought, the other way round."

Larf? I fair lay on the ground.

Still, perhaps we approve of someone continuing to defend Mummy (we do rather presume that churning out identikit ro-mances must have been exceedingly beneficial to the family finances).

Not so much of the devotion: Greyfriars Bobby revealed as a hoax/scam/myth (apologies for the source of the link...). I have a vague feeling that this is Not Exactly News, but may be wrong. Though when you consider how long the alleged devoted pooch was haunting the graveyard, calculation of the canine lifespan would surely suggest that he would have been barely more than a wee puppy when his supposed master died - hardly time to form that kind of bond, one would have thought.
