Chap outside the Tube station holding a board saying 'London Prayer Challenge This Way'.

Which I gather to be this event.

But coming down the road, before having the chance to look it up, I was thinking some kind of competitive praying scenario.

You know, Elijah and the Priests of Baal sort of thing.

Or like that thing Victorian freethinkers used to do, giving God ten minutes to smite them for not believing in him (this may well be apocryphal).

Possibly the juxtaposition of the words 'prayer' and 'challenge' in a single phrase strikes me as somewhat oxymoronic. But what do I know.
