These are not very accurate, but I did them to the best of my knowledge in Japanese names.
Behold name meanings behind the lj cut!
Hikaru = Hikaru means "light" or "shining" in Japanese.
Kaoru = Kaoru means "darkness" in Japanese, but not entirely sure...the female version of Kaoru means "fragrant" in Japanese, which means sweet-smelling.
Tamaki = 'Tama' means "whole" or "perfect" in Japanese. Couldn't find anything for the full name, but we know that Suoh means "one who becomes a king because he is destined to"
Haruhi = Her name was originally "distant sun" in kanji, but it could also mean "spring day"
Takashi = Takashi means "eminence" in Japanese. Eminence means to be eminent, which means 'a position of great distinction or superiority'. Also, eminence can be the sum of these qualities: creativity, intelligence, and motivation, which is what makes a genius or prodigy..
Mitsukuni = "Mitsu" means light in Japanese, and also, the "Mitsu" in Mitsukuni could be taken from "hachimitsu" which means "honey"
Kyouya = Kyouya means "money/gold" or "ogre/demon/monster" in Japanese
