After a bit of googling about, it seems that I'm affected by Ubuntu Bug #111375, which itself seems to be kernel bug #8423. According to kernel.org's bugzilla, this has been fixed, but a new Ubuntu kernel hasn't been compiled yet ( Read more... )

While sputnik runs well enough on a 32-bit 'generic' kernel, I am tempted to try an AMD64 kernel to see if I can get CPUfreq to work properly. It's not that big a deal for me, since I haven't put anything on this host anyway.

I should really kick back and listen to some Enya. Anything by Enya...except maybe "Orinoco Flow." Because if anything flows in post-Breezy kernels. . . Orinoco is not it ( Read more... )

Finally got X to work with the new K7 kernel; it was a trivial matter of getting the right nvidia driver. Duh.

An apt dist-upgrade later, and naturally, ndiswrapper broke. this is being posted from my old 2.6.8.1-3-i386 kernel--the newly-installed 2.6.8.1-5 kernel of course won't give me connectivity ( Read more... )

Kernel updated to and now, I can't transfer files from the camera (USB mass storage) to my photo manager's directory (/windows/C/Photos/) (That's a windows partition on this box).

Whole thing hangs and sounds like a deathrattle. Kill the processes and dmesg comes up with
