She was a daydreamer, or at least that’s what they called her. She daydreamed because she didn’t like the world she lived in. It was broken and imperfect. In her daydreams, everything was perfect. They were so vivid that she often confused fact with fiction, a trait that her friends found extremely amusing whenever they caught her in the middle of one.
She had a specific place she liked to go and just daydream; the doorstep of her house. She could sit there for hours. The young girl would go there when life brought her down such as a fight with a friend or disappointment in love.
On her way home from school one particular day, she was feeling rather gloomy due to a bad grade, a failed exam. She knew just what to do: go to her doorstep and daydream about a better day. As she made her way closer to her home she was surprised to see someone else sitting at her doorstep, a girl, and it looked like that girl was waiting for her.
Yoona got closer to the girl, curious as to who she was and why she was there.
“Yoona, you’re back!” The girl stood up and waved at her, a smile on her face. She was about the same height as Yoona, with long black hair and a very thin waist. Heck, if it wasn’t for the hair, Yoona might’ve thought they looked alike.
“Who are you?” Yoona questioned, sitting down next to this stranger. She wasn’t scared, in fact, she felt like she knew the girl.
“I’m Yuri.” The girl introduced herself.
“And?”
“And you know the rest!” Yuri replied, grinning.
Before Yoona could ask what she meant, Yuri asked her own question.
“So tell me about your day. You look down.”
“Bad day at school.” Yoona replied.
“Tell me about it.”
It wasn’t weird to Yoona that a complete stranger was asking her this, she didn’t really know why.
Yoona found herself telling Yuri all about her day and just a few minutes into the conversation, the topic changed and Yoona quickly forgot why she was sad in the first place. Yuri had cheered her up and made her forget all about it.
They talked for hours, until Yoona realized it was getting dark and she had homework to do.
“I’m gonna go inside now.” Yoona got up, stretching her legs.
“’Kay, bye Yoona~”
“Will you be here tomorrow?” Yoona asked, hoping this wouldn’t be the last time they met.
“Only if you want me to be.” Yuri winked.
Yoona looked quizzically at the other girl for a moment then laughed. “Alright, see you tomorrow.”

That was the start of many more after school doorstep conversations. It was everyday, it became a routine, and of course, Yoona began to fall in love with Yuri.
Yuri was perfect, she was always there when Yoona needed her, she seemed to have the answer to every question Yoona asked (it was always exactly what Yoona wanted to hear) and she never failed to make Yoona laugh. How could Yoona not fall in love with her?
When Yoona realized the reason why she loved Yuri (because of her perfection) she wondered if that was even possible, in such an imperfect world. She decided to ask Yuri about it the next time she saw her.

“Yuri…” Yoona murmured, her head resting on the older (or so she assumed) girl’s shoulder.
“Yeah?”
“Are you real?” Yoona asked, though she feared the answer.
“About as real as you want me to be.”
“That doesn’t really answer my question. Why are you so perfect?”
“Again, because you want me to be.”
Her answers were beginning to frustrate Yoona, Yuri could tell so instead she said. “I’m the daydream, you’re the daydreamer. I’m what you think perfect should be.”
“So you’re not real, you never were…” Yoona whispered, feeling kind of crazy now.
“Not exactly. I’m here to show you that nothing is perfect and nothing ever will be. Everyone is imperfect, everyone has imperfection but…” Yuri paused.
“But?”
“That’s what makes everything so perfect.” Yuri finished.
“That doesn’t make any sense!”
“It doesn’t? I think it does.” Yuri chuckled.
“Go away, you stupid daydream.” Yoona mumbled, looking away, she felt betrayed.
“Yoona…” Yuri whispered, putting her thumb under Yoona’s chin and lifting her head up, making the younger girl face her. She offered her a warm smile. “Wake up and stop the daydreaming. See the world; it honestly has some good in it.”
“No, it doesn’t.” Yoona grumbled, pouting.
“And why is that?”
“You’re not in it.”
Yuri laughed again, long and hard. “You’ll meet me again someday.”
“Really?”
Yuri nodded. “But only if you quit the daydreaming and start to see the perfect in the imperfect.”
“I can’t.”
“You can and you’ll see that it’s better than anything you’ve every dreamt about.”
Yoona was about to say something but Yuri stopped her. “I promise.”
Yuri kissed her on the lips now, Yoona closed her eyes to truly feel the kiss but when she felt nothing, she opened them again and saw that Yuri was gone.
