Mistaken Visual Acuity & More 3D Eye Exercises

For a while, I've been listing my vision incorrectly. The Snellen eye chart we have at the office was 10 meters away, when it was supposed to only be 6 meters away. Oops! So, now that I discovered that, it turns out my vision is actually sharper than I have been listing.

My left eye has always been exceptionally sharp - I can easily read the bottom line with it - so now I figure it's somewhere around 20:10 or better. My left eye also has better color acuity, is quicker to focus, and is relatively free of any floaters (those squiggly things floating around in your field of vision). The single drawback is that it's more prone to aches from eye strain, and takes longer to adjust to changes in light. I now figure my right eye is around 20:15 ~ 20:20, varying a little on how much sleep I've gotten and my stress levels. It's also much stronger at picking out motion, detecting patterns and changes in texture, is easier to defocus (useful at night), and is quicker to adjust to the darkness (I'll usually close my left eye, and navigate in the dark solely with my unfocused right eye, until the left eye has adjusted a minute or three later). The biggest problem is that I have two floaters that occasionally become a nuisance, but I can usually fix that by mixing up my eye a little.

It's been a slow day, at the office, so I've been doing a bunch of eye exercises, including cross-eye and divergent 3D images. After focusing on an particularly large cross-eye 3D image, that often takes me some effort, I noticed my right eye's vision was sharper than normal. Like, it was a LOT sharper than normal. I could easily read the bottom line of the Snellen chart with either eye. I went out side, and it was crazy how much sharper my right eye was. Just under 3 hours has passed, and my right eye still seems sharper than I'm accustomed to. It'll be interesting to see how the chart looks later tonight.

.Due to it's size and complexity, I've always found it a little harder than most images to focus on, once my eyes have properly fused on the image. On average, I can only maintain focus on it a few seconds, and look around a few points before I lose my lock on it. I can definitely feel my eyes working hard to maintain the image. I usually only use this image once in a while, but today I practiced a bit to prolong how long I could keep it in focus, and look around. Right after that, is when I noticed the improvement.
