So I started off with something touristy, going to Gyeongbokgung palace. It was pretty, kind of monotonous because while it's huge and sprawling you're basically never allowed inside anything and the myriad of buildings almost all look alike. What I DID like was that if you left the most popular areas there were kind of back allies you could wander down. There were large chunks of time where I couldn't hear any of the other tourists. Plus, there was this giant pavilion that really was cool, but to go inside requires you to join a korean tour. Seriously, the information board about how to join those tours was entirely in Korean. lame guys, lame.
Inside the palace area is a free museum about Korean culture that was ok. It was raining out so it was crowded and loud because people who didn't care were just hanging out there.
Way better than the museum near the subway station which had things that might have been cool, but barely any English signage. I didn't even finish that museum. I wanted to know what the things I was looking at were and I couldn't, and also I was crazy hungry. The only restaurant nearby was the one attached to the museum I didn't like and the food looked expensive and not that great so I grabbed nuts and kimbap triangles from a convenience store instead XD. Because it was still pretty rainy I want to Dongdaemun since its stores are arranged in malls so I could stay inside. In the end I found someplace offering holographic kpop performances. still can't decide if I should go back and see one or not lol.
