The thing with this type of media-tie in book is that such books tend to keep things status quo.  There are very few deep messages and no character growth, just plot driven adventure.

The next book in the Star Trek: TNG series is Q&A, written by Keith R.A. DeCandido and published in the fall of 2007 for the 20th anniversary of the series debut. As one might guess from the title, this book features Q, the omnipotent being from the very first episode of the series.
