So me and Paris, we're like BFF or something. We met one night in this jail cell, and... well... you know the story.
I love how weird my face looks all scrunched up. Haha.
So.... yeah. It was a super busy weekend and I didn't have much time to do anything while in NYC besides work super-long days where at the end of the day I was so exhausted that all I wanted to do was crash. I had Monday off which I spent hanging out with OBers in Chinatown and Time Square which was cool. Dio is awesome!! So is Kenka, the restaurant!! Mmm. Yummy Japanese foodstuffs. However, my regret for the trip: I kind of wish I had the chance to go to the MET. And also a Broadway play. Anyone would do. But, really, I didn't want to spend the money.
My one super-horrible touristy moment: Bailey, myself, and Amy needed to get from JFK airport to Manhattan and were bee-lining to a cab when a guy asked if we needed one. We replied in the affirmative and he took us to his "cab", an unmarked SUV. This should start ringing warning bells in our heads but all of us ignored them and got in the car. Needless to say, end of story, we got jipped out of $120 to get to our hotel across the street from Penn Station when it should have been a flat rate of $45 plus any tolls or tips (this only cost me $55 on the way back to the airport, thank the gods!).
My favorite store that I visited: H & M. Man, that place is like a super-hip Ross. I loved it! Now I'll have to check for the stores close to me in Santa Monica or Costa Mesa!!
Most stressful moment: When I had to "translate" the make-up class on how to paint your dolls from Japanese to English. It was super stressful because I didn't realize I would be a "translator" because my Japanese skills are pretty bad but there I was in front of 20+ people trying to do just that. Ack! Also, whenever anyone had a question (Japanese or American) they went to me so I could figure out some way for the other person to understand what they were talking about. Kyaaaa. I need to study more Japanese!
And now here I am jet-lagged and lighter on money but still glad I went. I realized though, that I never, ever want to live there. NYC is like the polar-opposite of LA in many, many ways. And for one accustomed to LA going to NYC is a rather dramatic change. All in all I am sort of happy that I am on this side of the coast...
