Birthday over; moving on.

Yeah, so yesterday wasn't the best day though I assumed as much when I signed up for this Masters' seminar course. But I did get a surprise cake in the middle of class which was great. I almost cried. I really appreciated the effort that went into that to try and make my birthday better.

Then graduation, drinks, and a phone call from Matt-matt which did make me cry because I wanted nothing better than a hug from him. But at least I got a phone call from him on his break, so I couldn't complain too horribly much. Sadly, I spent a lot of the rest of the evening being a bit mopey and it felt like the rest of the seminar group was ignoring me because everyone was talking to everyone else and not me (though really, it could have been that I was being a bit touchy and grumpy about things). But at least I got to talk to Matt when he finished work and came home at like 1am Japan-time and got immediately on Skype. However, now I'm soooo tired. I really want to sleep but I have my Japan-contingent birthday party tonight at my all-time favorite bar; Little Long Beach. Whoo! That should be great!!
So.... yeah.... all in all not the absolute worst birthday (I suspect that would probably have been the near-miss almost-car accident from a couple of years back when I lived in Long Beach), nor the best (maybe with Jerry at the Huntington Library??) but somewhere in-between on the lower end of the scale.
The one good thing was the confirmation of my X JAPAN ticket for the Yokohama show this Saturday. So happy about that. Initially I was thinking of buying myself a small Vivienne Westwood planet-type pendant but I think X JAPAN is much better and probably costs about the same when you factor in tickets, transportation, tour goods, and such.
And now I get ready to catch the shinkansen back to Osaka; I just can't be bothered to take a 6 hour busy when for $50 more I can be there in an hour and I'm a bit tired and grumpy. So shink it is for the day and birthday drinks tonight. Should be good!
