Leftover pizza from Giordano's was a great way to start the day. I got ready and made my way back to Boystown to see a couple of shops I missed the day before. I finished up my window shopping and got on the road to Milwaukee.
The drive would have been a lot quicker if I had not caught the beginnings of rush hour traffic combined with construction that spanned most of the trek. I made it safely to Milwaukee and arrived at my friend JP's house just after he returned home from work.
JP and I chatted for a few minutes and then quickly made our way to eat dinner as he had not eaten all day. His recommendation was to go to Kopp's, a local hamburger and custard place. The decor of the restaurant is a post apocalyptic bomb shelter. Sounds strange, but was very welcoming. It contained a lot of concrete, "broken" benches and even a water fall in the outside sitting area. The burgers were excellent and quite filling. We did not have enough room for dessert, but decided we would come back another day.
Afterward, JP took me around town. Since the weather was forecast to be rainy the rest of the week, he wanted me to see a few things. I have already found a charm about Milwaukee and believe that I will enjoy living here in the fall. Along our journeys, we came to the 3rd Ward, where in the Milwaukee Public Market, we got some excellent Wisconsin cheese and fruit and had a wine tasting. We had a great time.
We continued our drive around town and even had a drink at the Alterra coffee shop before returning home. I was not expecting to do so much on a travel day, but I am not complaining. It gave me a great excuse to slack off today.
I honestly did very little today. I slept in, woke, showered, ate breakfast, watched some TV, ate lunch, watched more TV, then fixed dinner for JP and me. After dinner, we headed out to Kopp's for some frozen custard. I forgot to mention that each day, they have different flavors. Today, they had cookies-n-cream, which I had, and spumoni, which JP had. I got to try his, so I can say that both were very tasty.
On the way back to the house, we stopped by blockbuster to rent a movie. We chose Seven Pounds since neither of us had seen it. It was a sad movie, but I'm glad I watched it. Now it is time for bed. Tomorrow, I think I will get out and see some more of Milwaukee. I have some good ideas of things I would like to do this week.
