CAMICIA STUFF

My grandmother has started embroidering the linen which will eventually turn into a blackworked Italian camicia. Originally we planned on doing it as historically correct as possible. But it was impossible to find a good silk embroidery thread, even more so in maroon (which the original we're going by was - unless the thread has faded). And when I got tons of black cotton thread for free, we decided to do the embroidery in black.

I've drafted the two main motifs from the latest Janet Arnold POF book. One is depicted in full size in the book, but I had to draft the other from a semi large picture. I think it's pretty correct, but I'm not sure. Also, when I drafted it on the linen, I simplified it by letting each motif going the same direction instead of mirroring it back and forth.

You can see the original and my grandmother's work overneath. I'm totally in love with it! She'll do most of the embroidery, I'll do the construction and seamwork. We're a good team.
