So these last couple of days has been crazy. Work wise, at least, as I've been working for hours and hours on a show called "Cirkus Fagott". It's the summer show on a fine all-gay chorus of high standard. They've been so creative this year, and they're excellent in balancing their musical quality with the homoerotic, which always come out either fun or touching. This years theme is turn-of-the-century circus, which gives us numbers like "Toxic" in freakshow edition, "Merano" with homoerotic horses and some outstanding choral pieces.
The costumes is actually one of the parts I've been involved in. My boss is "circus manager" (read: Master of Ceremonies), and needed a spunky circus-ish costume for the first act. I didn't sew anything, but I decorated a pair of black suspenders with all-black beads, and draped a skirt. It was lots of fun, but surprisingly demanding, seeing how I sat in a dark auditorium trying to sew while they were rehearsing... I had to sit there because my actual job has been to be standby to fix whatever needs to be fixed. So now my eyes are blinded, and I'm deaf on the left ear after sitting next to the speakers... but it was totally worth it.
It'll be the last multiple-hours day today, as tonight is the opening night. I'm sooo looking forward to it! Here is the promo poster they did some months ago; the costumes are improved but basically the same concept:

Oslo Fagottkor ("fagott" means bassoon, but is of course a nod to the all-gay members). My boss, the only actual female, in the middle...
This weekend I'll visit my hometown, where my niece is to be baptized. Her name is Sofia. We all decided on spelling it with Greek F instead of Latin PH, as the name originally is Greek (Σοφία) and means "wisdom". I will be her godmother, something I'm honoured about.
Shortly after I'll be heading for Greece. Whaddayaknow! And such an odd place as well. Some friends are doing archeological work on inner Peloponnes, in an almost non-existent town called Tegéa. Inner Peloponnes, in extreme summer heat, living in a former hospital... My Greek friends (almost) yelled at me for this choice. But the fact that it's so way out there is part of the fun. Besides, we'll rent a car and drive around a lot. And I'll get to practice my (lousy) Greek! It'll be fun.
