OK, so even with a chemise the bodice was a bit loose. Therefore.... therefore I did something really scary! I cut off the lacing holes in the front half of the bodice. The raw ends was then folded inwards and stitched together, and new grommets was inserted. In effect I only removed 2,5 cm / an inch at each side, but it felt very absurd to cut into a finished and nice looking bodice... And the "...if this should fail..." thought was a bit unpleasant. Luckilly, it turned out nicely, and the fit is much better now.

Sewing on the ribbons in the back. No, they don't look as retroreflector-like in real life as in photos. They ARE metallic in style, but they react to the camera flash, making them look very bling-y... The middle area was loosely gathered and then stitched in place. The gathers are not visible, but they prevent the middle area to bulk or fold.

The fabric used for this project is a lush, high-quality cotton sateen. I got lots of fabric some years ago, from a local bed linen factory (Høie), and their cotton fabrics are of the most lovely quality and shine. It's the same kind I used to match the silk dupioni bodice of the pink Bronzino gown. I got two lovely shades of blue from them, as well as greyish brown (seen in the underskirt of the Unicorn dress), an orange and a red one - all 4-7 meters each. The blue has been screaming out "Make a lush Renaissance dress of me!!!" for years... And finally I gave it!

silver, florentine, renaissance, peacock, unicorn, bronzino, blue
