OSLO MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL

I attended Oslo Medieval Festival last weekend. I was joined by five others, four of them which had no idea what me and my cousin had planned for them.... We had borrowed costumes for all of them, and they were dressed from top to toe in Renaissance garbs before we entered the festival. It was great fun!

There were two sisters and one mother-and-daughter, plus my cousin and myself. My cousin wore a supercool grey-and-yellow quasi-Flemish dress and a chemise, along with a beautifully made leather purse.

The little girl wore the "Juliet" gown I made for my cousin "decades" ago, plus a veil headgear, while the mother wore my Raphael dress. It was too tight and too long for her, but with a chemise underneath and a few pins here and there it worked like a dream! She also wore a high veil headgarb, to make it look more Medieval. She was so chic! I especially love the side view of her, taken on the roof of Oslo's new Opera house.

The younger sister wore a quite lovely quasi-German-dress, but alas we run out of chemises, so it didn't look as grand as it could have. She still looked gorgeous, cause the dress fit her so well. It was like it was made for her.

The elder sister wore the "Donna Gravida" dress from "Which Witch", and I noticed the dress is now in a sorry state. The costume makers has used a very rough slubby silk (red areas), and it's tearing apart because the vertical threads are weak. I mended it when we got home, so it doesn't have any obvious slits, but the fabric will keep coming apart when worn. Darn. The dress was a bit wide over the shoulders, but she looked wonderful in it. She even had to pose as "Donna Gravida"....

I wore my Unicorn dress, still not finished, and still so-so-so comfortable.

The actual festival was fun enough, though I'm never quite sure what they're aiming for at the festival (no pun intended if you're looking at the photo underneath...). It's cozy, but I think they lack... something. A story, a theme... Anyway, our outfits got us free entrance tickets, so we were quite satisfied. And there were many fun exhibitors this year.
