Sunbaked

Sunshine. Bodies shimmering in the heat haze. Bronzed bikini-clad bathing beauties.
And none of it his. Angel contemplated the scene from behind his last necro-tempered windscreen. It had been bittersweet pleasure, the glass his protection but also his prison. No more. There was nothing left. He’d lost. Soon this beach would go, though the oblivious sun-worshippers had yet to notice their doom.
So Angel took his death into his own hands and stepped out of his prison into the light. He felt the baking sun for the first time in centuries. And stood peacefully as it burnt him to ashes.
