Watched X-Men First Class last night and really liked it. Pretty good mix of story and action although J felt it was a little unbalanced in favour of story. On my list of "stuff I should've watched by now" is the movie The Color Purple. I read the book 6 years ago, enjoyed it, found it poignant, and then forgot about it. Watched this on opening weekend at 10pm, and it was exciting enough to keep me awake until the end. I thought it was quite good, and liked both the movie and the book better than The Da Vinci Code. Of course, J guessed the antagonist within 20 min, but even he admitted that they did a good job of hiding it. I want to read the book again. Some parts ( Read more... )

Saw X-Men Origins:Wolverine on opening weekend. Went late so it wasn't busy, and didn't have to wait long. Pretty good! Thoroughly enjoyed it, and it was especially fun to see UBC's Buchanan Tower transformed into an African Military Base. Took a flex day yesterday to coincide with J's day of errands and other stuff. Planned a day of shopping, haircut, movie, and apartment viewing. The day's schedule went awry from the start, but I managed to squeeze in most things. The most important one was the haircut, but unluckily, the place is closed on Thursdays!
