Lots of Spoilers! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows
Yes I'm serious about the spoilers. This is your last chance to be safe.
The deaths were surprising, at first glance. When you look at Mad Eye's death, that was the most immediate bit of foreshadowing in the series. Everyone else it was a few chapters, with him, a couple pages. Dobby really surprised be, and I had rather expected Harry to use Kreacher (and yes I do think that name is to cutesy to be tolerated). While the twins, were on my list to die, I expected it would be both of them, or Percy, not just one. I really expected either Molly or Arther to die as well. Lupin and Tonks were sorta a surprise, I was expecting that Kingsley would get to be the Auror to die. Wormtale was surprising in its brevity only. On the other hand, the deaths of Mad Eye and Lupin, as well as Snape made a clean sweep of all the former DADA teachers.
Narcissa helping Harry was something I saw back a book or two ago. I'm surprised neither Mcgonnagal or Hagrid died, likewise the other heads of house.
The only real loose end that bothered me was that the Goblins seem to have sat this out. I kept half expecting to see Griphook or some other Goblins show up to help
Overall, I don't think the series really could have ended better.
