Completed
Birth Control: I’m probably going to hold onto this one for a few weeks.

In Progress
Bullying: It’s in the earliest stages.
Depression: Also in the earliest stages.
Domestic Violence: At the same stage of “in progress” as the two above it. Depending on which one I get to first will be the topic for next week, so just be warned that next week’s post will probably have trigger warnings all over the place. ……..LOL watch, I’m gonna get some bright idea and next week’s post winds up being something like “HOW PUPPEHZ AND KITTEHZ WILL SAVE TEH WORLD”.
LGBTQI: This is going to be the post that will kick off the first of an ongoing series. Please, please, please don’t be shy about suggesting topics pertaining to the queer community that you would like to see highlighted here. And since we’re on the subject, which set of initials do you guys think is the most ideal to use for these posts?

IdeasPOTUS Elections: I cannot waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait for 2012 ( ... )

I don't know if these are specifically what you had in mind, but some things that would be immensely valuable:

For the LGBTQI series, could there be one on LGBTQI mental health and resources?

Domestic abuse and resources...

LGBTQI youth resources?

Even if the posts become link fests or stories of using/needing them, I think having a consolidated reference point with national and international contributors would be awesome.

and will the discussion/info posts have a tag?

Related: elderly LGBTQI not covered as much, but older LGBTQI people have very different concerns regarding power of attorney, whether they're allowed to share a room in elder care facilities (they often aren't), assets, and so on.

I'm looking forward to Gen Silent coming out on DVD. All libraries should have it.

I have to tell you that when you get the proper one it is really great. Takes a bit of getting used to.. but after that.

Now where to get that cute pouch for it..

I got my cup a few months ago and it's becoming more and more AWESOME! First month was like ".....um I can't get this in....ow, now it's in too far" but then after that trial and error it works SO well. The only issue I have with it (which is more of a "lol" than "issue") is that occasionally my vagina becomes hyper aware suddenly and sends signals to my brain going: "You feel that? There's a cup in here....like, a whole cup. See? You feeling it?....so cuppish" (not painful signals just feeling signals)

That's happening less and less as time goes by though. Most of the time I can't feel it at all.

Cups are super awesome. I have a Diva, which apparently isn't even that good of a beginner cup, but I didn't have problems with it.

I def. recommend the menstrual cups lj comm.

Every single step of the menstrual cycle sucks.

That's my thought on the matter.

you can't get another one inserted when it wears off?

Reply

faerieglen November 6 2011, 19:13:15 UTC
You can, but it's a bit of a hassle if they have to knock you out for it!

This. My periods were never THAT bad, but still painful, and I don't miss them at all. Six months of occasional discomfort after insertion were totally worth it. Mirena rocks.

They had to knock me out for insertion, too, because my cervix is so tiny. Another reason not to get pregnant...

i need that pursonal thing in my life, it's adorable!

i just recently started using tampons and i will never go back to anything else. it's a wonderful thing. the cup scares me though, i could never do something like that, idk!

i have weird periods, like they always come at a different time every month which leads to me waiting and waiting and never knowing what day it'll come. it's not a 28 day schedule and it bugs me :\ anyone else like this?

I've never been regular ever, and my period never ever come at the same time. By some stroke of luck I get a little bit of warning before it starts so I haven't had a serious accident in years. Damned inconvenient, though.

if you have a smartphone there's an app for this. i used to think the same thing about my cycle, but actually it averages out to about 24 to 26 days because i'm a smaller woman. for whatever reason i grew up thinking that it was supposed to happen on the same calendar date each month, lol, no. this app predicts the first day of bleeding, and it's usually right on the money or off by only a day, and shows you when you are most fertile, etc. it's pretty amazing.

it seems like it, but the thing is my periods are never earlier than they should be. they're always later, lol. i think my schedule is about 30 days, but i should probably start keeping track :\
