She wasn't quite sure what to expect when she played his message, perhaps a roundabout abstraction, or a polite refusal--but for one reason or another she was pleasantly surprised when he accepted her invitation. Perhaps she could get some straight answers from him once they met in private.
He sounded like he could use a change of pace, she said with some concern when she promptly returned his call, Was he busy tonight? He wasn't. Perhaps he should come over. "What time shall I look forward to having you?" Lulu asked, and this time it came as little surprise that he was already on his way.
