WHO: Rikku (
cunningness) and Red X (
crimson_rogue_x).
WHAT: They’re thieves. What do you think is going on?
WHERE: The house of a rich NPC.
WHEN: Friday the 13th, during the party. We're getting ahead of things, okay.

As much as Rikku loved parties, this was just too amazing of an opportunity to pass up. Honestly, how often did people leave their houses completely unguarded? Well, almost completely. But how often did they congregate in a central location, almost totally unable to keep an eye on their valuables at home? Not too often, as far as she knew, and she knew a lot. The rumors had been flying for weeks, and it had taken her a great deal of time to sort out who was attending and who was not. Once she was positive which sections of the city would be relatively deserted, she planned her route. So, even though she did not particularly want to skip the party, she did, solely for the purpose of scoping out potential future targets.

But the second she saw a faint glint through the second-story window of a rather large house with that expertly-cared-for-look, “potential future” quickly morphed to “current.”

Double-checking that she wasn’t being watched or followed (it was impossible to know who was a spy for which group, or even the AMC), she shimmied up a nearby tree and across a branch to get a better look through the window. She was instantly rewarded; there across the master bedroom was a vanity utterly loaded with shining jewels. The young thief licked her lips in anticipation and sidled closer towards the windowpane, pulling out her lock-picking kit as she did. Cracking a window’s lock was a bit tougher than just an average door, and it would probably take a bit of time before-

In just under a minute, the lock clicked away, and Rikku grinned widely, stowing her kit back in a pouch attached to her belt. She dug gloved fingers beneath the pane, spying the alarm system as she did so. With one hand she reached into a separate pouch and pulled out a miniature screwdriver. Holding the tool in her right hand, she pried the window open with her left; as soon as the alarm beeped, she made quick work of it, disassembling the whole thing in about fifteen seconds. She twisted a wire, disabling the entire alarm system in just a few moments.

Shoving the window the rest of the way open, she slipped inside the room, booted feet not making a sound on the plush crimson carpet. The bright yellow ends of her scarf were the last things through the window before she gently slid it shut behind her, standing for a moment as spiraled jade eyes adjusted to the almost pitch darkness.
