They weren't Vescovo. They weren't anywhere near that mafia family, but the Monacellos hated them, especially Riddle. Whatever Tommy hated, they hated, but Tommy also wanted them to go to the party. So, why not? And Rhode might be there and some other important people that Barrel wanted to question or bring back to Tommy before his brother and sister.
He was dressed up in pink like the invitation wanted, and the shoes made him feel itchy. Maybe he can take them off when he came in. It wasn't going to be that fancy, right? Parties were supposed to be fun.
Barrel scratched his chubby belly, and looked around for some grade A meat.
Red hair and pink clothes did not go together well--in fact, the clash probably hurt to look at--but something about the negative appeal made Lock all the more happier with his eyesore of an outfit. He followed Barrel inside, hands deep in jean pockets and a narrow smirk on thin lips. They were spies, so they'd do what they did best, right? It didn't matter that they weren't Vescovo. Not to them.
"You smell like dead fish," Lock commented snidely, shouldering his brother. "Where's Rhode?"
He kept his voice low enough so the question stayed between the two brothers as he scanned the area around them.
Shock bounded in after her brothers, and though she was following the dress code, the amount of pink in the building made her left eye twitch. Pausing for a second, Shock shuddered before worming her way between the two boys, looping one arm low around Lock's waist and the other over Barrel's shoulders. Shock said nothing for a few moments, just looked around the room for the cake table and, when spotted, a wide smile appeared on Shock's face. The huge cake made up for the ghastly amount of pink and glitter.
"Forget Rhodey for now," Shock told her brothers, still eyeing the dessert table. "We should wait and see who she comes with. She told me Sebastian's not her butler anymore, but everyone knows she can't fight for herself anyway. Poor little Rhodey! I wonder who's her bodyguard now," Shock mused. She finally tore her eyes away from the cake to the people milling about, but Shock didn't see Rhode anywhere.
Tom sauntered into the room, dressed in an all-black ensemble; the only thing keeping him from getting kicked out was the light pink scarf tucked discreetly inside of his front pocket. This whole event was absolutely disgraceful in and of itself, he wasn't about to conform to its indignity any more than he had to to get what he needed.
And what he needed was information. If there was one thing that he knew, it was to know thy enemy. Of course, if tonight went well, he would know much more than that. He knew he wasn't the only new Sotto Capo in the city and if his opponent was that foolish little heir to the Vescovo name... he wouldn't be much of an opponent at all.
Tom spotted his three minions soldati quickly. Stalking over to them, he quickly smacked Barrel on the back of the head.
"Please conduct yourself with class, Barrel," he hissed, before continuing. "I expect all of you to continue on the task I've set you tonight."
Lock came and Shock snaked her way between them. Unconsciously, he leaned into her touch and surveyed the crowd with sunken eyes.
"You smell like old socks and I don't know where the slut is," Barrel hissed as he looked around for Rhode or Jinx or even that Sharpay chick. Tommy would give lots of sweet tarts for that pretty wench, but then Shock pointed out the sweets and he was officially distracted.
A huge table full of all these desserts that made his mouth water. Barrel not only had a sweet tooth for E and blood. It was sugar, chocolate, everything having to do with candy. Him and his siblings reverted back to five year old children whenever faced with the delicacy.
He was drooling out of the corner of his mouth by the time Tom came up, and smacked him.
"Ow!" He pouted, rubbing his head. "I'm conducting myself!"
Lock settled comfortably against his sister, craning his head back at an angle and peering over one shoulder with narrowed eyes in order to look in that direction. At the mention of cake, though, all thoughts centered around their target disappeared. He snapped to attention, staring over at the plated dessert with unveiled hunger.
There was no denying the three sibling's distinct fixation with sweets, after all. Anyone who wanted to manipulate them would know that by now; it was an easy way to take advantage. Even if you ended up screwed in the end despite the bribery. Lock didn't care what happened to the client, so long as he got his treat.
Drawn from delicious fantasies of devouring cake and candy for the next however many hours they'd be stuck here, his smirk widened when he saw Barrel get whacked by their superior. "Haha!" The mocking laugh came as habit, an annoying high-pitched cackle, and Lock squirmed his way out of Shock's half-embrace to face Tom, smiling, mouth full of too-sharp teeth.
Shock was about to guide her brothers over to the dessert table when Barrel got smacked, and she stared at the disembodied hand with wide-eyes before seeing whose arm it was attached to. Unlike Lock, she didn't laugh at Barrel, just hid a smile and patted his head absently, in a poor attempt at comfort. He deserved it, anyway! They were to be on their best behavior, especially since they were doing something for Tom. Barrel being his usual gross self didn't go along with that game plan very well.
Letting go of Barrel, Shock spun to face Tom. She grinned and stood at mock-attention, giving him a salute before relaxing again. Bouncing on her toes, Shock tucked her hands behind her back and shook one of her feet. "The weapons check was only for metal," Shock told Tom, looking very proud of herself. "I put my plastic knife in my shoe just in case, and they didn't catch it!" No one was around to eavesdrop on their conversation, and Shock giggled, fidgeting in excitement for the night.
"Very clever, Shock," he said approvingly. Perhaps the three of them would be useful after all and if anything, their blind worship would come in handy some day. They were probably the only useful things left in the Monacello House. What a pity. There would be change, though. Starting tonight.
"Do you see Miss Kamelot over there, friends?" he breathed, anticipation coloring his voice. "She is a filthy traitor. Do you know what we do to traitors?"
He went on before one of them responded blindly, missing the rhetorical nature of the question. "We make them regret the day they betrayed our great house."
Tom's eyes flitted over to the girl. "She's with Gavin. Do not attempt to take her tonight. I don't need to clean up your messes before I get the chance to make one of her. Find out as much as you can about where she frequents. Then, you can have cake."
"Tch, I don't need a weapon," Barrel stuck out his tongue at his sister. All he had to do was tackle the person, stick his thumbs in their eyeballs, and watch them go squish ~ it wasn't so hard making a person squirm and bleeding underneath him.
But he pouted again. Tommy didn't want them hurting Rhode, and that hurt. It also hurt that he was directing everything mostly at Shock even though Barrel could do a better job. Why did no one ever count on him for anything?
"I can do it!" He bounced on his heels, smiling brightly. "I can do it for you, Tom."
"Awww, we can't do anything tonight? That's no fun!" He huffed, arms crossed over his jacket. Lock's pout curled into a sneer as soon as Tommy brought the cake back up, all remnants of displeasure gone. At least there was a light at the end of the tunnel, right? Traitor's blood and pink icing would've tasted a lot better, but so long as he got something out of this stupid party.
"Hey," Lock cut in, crowding closer to Tom in order to bring the attention back to himself. He didn't want Tommy ignoring him for his brother and sister! "Hey, I can do it better! I can listen, and sneak around and talk to people, I'm good at that. Tommy!"
Despite the rivalry, Lock would more than likely end up relying on the three of them as a team by the end of the night--because when it all came down to it, they were virtually unstoppable when they came at you from all sides, when they worked together.
Shock stood silently as her brothers whined and threw fits, rolling her eyes and biding her time. Did they never shut up? Annoying Tom by talking too much wasn't the way to impress him! With a look of disgust at the two boys, Shock reached out her arms and shoved them both, ignoring the curious looks of those around them. Shock dug her elbow into Barrel's side and gripped Lock's upper arm tightly, pulling them back, away from Tom
