[Teen Lessons] [Lesson XX]

Feb 23, 2010 18:12

So today is an important day, for many reasons.

First things first, today is (time zone GTM +1) 23th of February! Do I really need to say what that measn? Happy birthday, Kame-chan! Even though he annoys me sometimes, I do like this boy, especially when he's not trying to be cool and sexy and is just his cute, slightly awkward, loser self. His jokes are awfully random and terribly lame even more than Taguchi's, I'd say, and he looks like a mischievous kid when he realizes he has done something silly or embarrased himself and smiles that little awkward shy smile of his. And he is so hard working, so settled to not fall behind anyone and live up to everyone's expectations even though his acting is not the best, and his voice is not the strongest, and he's not even the most beautiful guy around, with that adorable crooked nose of him. It's this side of him that makes me want to hug him, pat his back and set him back on track all those times things go bad for him and he seems about to break down.

Ehem. Done with the Kame speech. Second reason why today is an important day: I've been posting this fic for a year already!. Woah. Just... woah. I fail at long projects. This is the first multichaptered fic I ever started seriously working on, the first one I have not ditched halfaway, and the first one I'm going to finish. A year already! And it's still gaining new readers. Incredible. I never thought it would take me this long to finish it, and I certainly never thought it would have such a success. nubello had promised me a speech for this day, but since she's been too busy and I'm already making one myself, I'll end this here:

To those who have been reading this from the start, thank you very much for your support. To those who have found it recently, thank you too for taking the time to read through it, to leave comments in every chapter even though some are months old, like some of you do. This fic means a lot to me, and without your support I wouldn't have made it this far. Thank you, really.

Yamapi rolled his eyes as he leaned against the bathroom’s door frame, feeling terribly girly after spending the last half an hour helping Jin to decide what clothes to wear. Although he was at least not as bad as his friend, who had been arranging his hairstyle for fifteen minutes already. With a sigh he walked to stand behind him, poking his head around his shoulder to watch Jin’s focused pout.

“Jin, weren’t you supposed to pick Kamenashi up? You’re gonna be late.”

“Shut up, you’re distracting me. I have to look good.”

“You’ve been messing with your hair since forever, I think you look good enough already.”

“It’s not messing, Pi. I have to be stylish for my date.”

“The one you’re gonna be late for?”

Jin stuck his tongue out at him without taking his eyes off the mirror, so he missed his friend’s smirk and could not foresee the hand that came up to ruffle his carefully arranged hair. He gave a loud undignified squeak as Pi laughed, rushing out of the bathroom as he ducked to dodge the comb flying at him.

Kame glared at the big board of the zoo as Jin went to buy the tickets, muttering under his breath about how he would not have spent an hour anguishing in front of his closet if he had known they were going to the zoo, of all places. Jin on the other hand looked pretty excited about the day, bouncing over to him with a wide smile. Kame sighed and rolled his eyes, taking his ticket and letting Jin drag him in. Jin looked at the big map with a small, focused frown, giving a happy squeal and setting off with Kame on trail.

“I want to see the lions first~”

Kame wondered if his boyfriend’s smile was contagious when he could not suppress one of his own as Jin pulled him toward the enclosure fence. The older boy clapped happily at the sight of the great cats laying comfortably in the sun, and Kame poked his side, tickling him.

“What are you, five?”

Jin stuck his tongue out at him, pulling him so he could hug the younger from behind and pointing to two cubs who were bumping their muzzles against each other’s. “They’re cute~”

Kame pouted, crossing his arms over his chest. “This is supposed to be a date, and you’re paying more attention to the lions than to me.”

The younger boy could not help a naughty smile as Jin laughed, tightening his hold around his waist. “Are you jealous of the lions? Aw, but you should know already that I like turtles better!”

Kame smacked Jin’s shoulder, muttering something about how lame he was, but did not squirm out of the other’s hold, despite not being very keen on public displays of affection. Jin pulled him away from the fence with a smile, lacing his fingers with the younger’s as they finally moved away. Kame did not seem very interested in the animals, so they just wandered around, stopping in front of random enclosures of great cats and bears to observe them distractedly, at least until Jin decided the monkeys were funnier and more entertaining to look at, and dragged Kame to their area. The younger boy laughed at the silly gestures Jin did to the monkeys to get them to mimic them and took pictures with his phone, though he glared at the camera and declared it was not funny when Jin insisted on taking a picture of him in front of the turtle’s tank once in the aquarium.

Morning was over before they noticed and soon their stomachs claimed attention, so they decided to grab a hot dog at one of the snack bars and crash on the dining area. They found a free table and wolfed down their food there, barely pausing to mumble at each other between mouthfuls. Jin got up to get seconds and Kame took the chance to lay down on the bench, resting his head on his boyfriend’s lap when he came back. Though he regretted it as soon as the first crumbs started to fall on his forehead. Kame made an annoyed sound and swatted his hands up in a futile attempt to stop the crumbs. He opened his eyes to find himself facing the dangerously dripping ketchup.

“If that falls on me, I‘m killing you.”
Jin tried to say something while munching on his food, resulting in a series of grunts.
“What?”

“I said that it’s your own fault for using me as a pillow, anyway.”

“Well, aren’t you my boyfriend or what? You should be able to eat as a grown up already. Pig.”

Jin finished the last of his second hot dog and grinned down at Kame, jumping up and almost throwing him off the bench with the motion. Before his boyfriend had time to even curse, Jin grabbed his hand and started pulling him toward the petting zoo.

“We might as well go to see some real pigs, if you like them enough to be dating one!”

Kame watched dumbfounded as Jin pulled him into the children’s zoo and happily went to buy some crackers to feed the animals, giving a fistful to Kame before practically skipping over to the pigs. The younger boy blinked a couple of times and looked around only to find himself surrounded by little kids and fluffy, mostly adorable looking animals. He settled for ignoring his ridiculously excited boyfriend and sat down on an empty bench, smiling as floppy-eared bunny bounced up to him and sniffed at his feet. He picked the brown and white fur ball up and put it on his lap, feeding him crackers while scratching its long ears.

He looked up when Jin whined at him, his boyfriend having soon forgotten about the pigs in favor of his cute boyfriend petting a fluffy animal. Though he would rather have that attention himself. Jin pouted when Kame looked up and glared at the bunny.

“And you were complaining that I didn’t pay attention to you!”

Kame raised an amused eyebrow, sticking his tongue out at Jin. He pointed behind his boyfriend, chuckling. “You have an admirer right there, anyway.”

Jin turned around to find a brown goat with floppy ears looking up at him. He blinked and laughed, taking a step forward. “Hey, it looks funny! It’s like it’s smiling!”

Jin was about to pet the animal when it charged forward, making the boy jump to steer clear of it with a loud squeak. The animal however did not seem discouraged, instead turning toward Jin for a second try. Kame laughed as his boyfriend screamed and ran for it, making the bunny leap off his lap, startled at the sudden loud noises. Jin almost tripped with the fluffy ball as he ran past the bench again, and the goat finally caught up with him, bumping its horned head quite harshly against the boy’s body. Jin fell to the ground with a thump and a gasp of pain. He got onto his hands and knees and was trying to get up when the goat trotted over to him and nibbled at his jean’s pocket, eating the crackers Jin had stuffed there after feeding the pigs. Kame was lying on the bench, laughing with tears in his eyes when Jin finally managed to get up and walk over to him, brushing the dust off his clothes and glaring.

“You could have helped me.”

Kame winked at him, getting up. “That’s what you get for keeping crackers in your pocket, idiot.”

Jin pouted. “Meanie. I don’t love you anymore.”

“Aw, poor thing, the goatie was bad to him. Does it hurt?”

“Very much, I‘ll have you know.”

Kame smirked and looped his arms around Jin’s neck, pressing his body close to his boyfriend’s as the older boy gulped, squirming a little. Making sure nobody was looking at them, Kame tiptoed and pressed his lips against Jin’s in a quick kiss, winking at him as he pulled apart.

“Feeling better?”

“… M- maybe I love you again.”

Kame laughed, taking Jin’s hand in his and squeezing it tightly as they walked out of the petting zoo.

They left the zoo a little before it closed after at short bitching at the souvenir shop, as Jin wanted to buy Kame a present and Kame did not want to be treated like a girl and wanted to buy Jin something too. When Kame decided their fighting was stupid enough, coming to the conclusion that if his boyfriend had a mental age of five he did not need to behave the same too, and that they should just buy each other something. So Jin ended up with a turtle necklace that made Kame glare at him, and the younger boy a fluffy bunny phone charm that he proceeded to hang from his cell with a slight blush.

It was getting dark, but they did not feel like going back home, so they got down the train a couple of stations before Kame’s house, since Jin insisted on walking him there. They ended up sitting on the swings of a park halfway, just talking and enjoying each other’s company. They had decided to do things better that time around, to talk and care about each other and enjoy themselves together beyond the physical. Kame felt like a baby when they moved to the see-saw and Jin’s weight lifted him, but he swayed his feet in the air and giggled anyway.

Time passed by and when they cared to check the hour again it was already late. The streets were pretty empty, though there were loud cheerful noises coming from the bars. There was a group of young men coming out of one as they crossed a deserted street, but they did not pay any attention to them, at least until one of them started whistling at them. Jin turned around on instinct, eyes widening at the face he saw. The guy who had just gone out of the bar mirrored him for a moment before smirking.

“Jin-chan!”

Kame blinked, surprised. He had never heard anyone call his boyfriend like that, not even Yamashita. He felt the boy’s hand tightening around his own, and turning around found him to be paler, eyes wide in fear. He frowned. The man was coming toward them, his friends waiting just behind.

“It’s been so long, Jin-chan! How have you been? You know, it was such a bad thing to do, just disappearing like that without a word!”

Jin took a step backwards, gulping. “Y- Yo- Yoshitano-san… Pl- Please, j- just leave us alone…”

“ ‘Yoshitano-san’? What’s up with being so formal? Mou, we used to be so close, Jin-chan! Don’t you love me anymore?”

As Jin just took another step backward. Kazuya frowned, moving to stand in front of his boyfriend without releasing his hand.

“Who the fuck are you?”

“Shouldn’t I be the one asking that? Who’s this, Jin-chan? How nice of you, bringing another friend to play with us!”

Jin only reacted as the man raised a hand to ghost his fingers over the youngest boy’s jaw. He pulled Kazuya to stand behind him, pushing Yoshitano harshly with a glare.

“Don’t you dare go near Kazuya!”

“So his name is Kazuya? Well, the more the merrier, isn’t it? Don’t you remember how much fun it used to be, Jin-chan? When you were naked and on all fours just for me…”

Jin lunged forward fist first, aiming for the man’s face. As he ducked, it only hit him on the shoulder, but managed to send him stumbling backwards. However he managed to grab Jin’s arm, throwing the boy toward his friends taking advantage of the boy’s own momentum. Jin stumbled toward the group of men, strong hands gripping him and preventing him from moving as Yoshitano stopped a furious Kazuya, holding the boy down as he leaned in to breathe right on his face. Kazuya squirmed trying to break free, but it was useless. Yoshitano smirked, tightening his hold on him.

“So Kazuya, isn’t it? You’re such a beauty~ Jin-chan has always had good taste. Now, now, we’re gonna have so much fun, aren’t we?”

Kazuya felt his stomach turning in disgust when the man tried to touch his face again. He pulled back, trying to kick Yoshitano’s leg, but the man pulled away and threw a punch at his face. Even though Kazuya dodged it, the fist hit the side of his head, making him sway and fall against a wall, hitting his head again. Yoshitano took the chance to crouch down by him and grab his chin to raise his head, looking at him with a smirk. Kazuya shut his eyes tightly, wishing away the pounding pain and dizzy sensation. He wanted to shake his head to get out of the man’s grip, but he did not feel very capable of that just at the moment. He could feel something wet sliding from his forehead and he felt dizzy just thinking about it.

Jin’s eyes widened in fear at the sound Kazuya’s head made against the wall, red fury blinding him as Yoshitano manhandled his boyfriend. He broke free from the other’s grip, roaring as he threw himself against the older man. He managed to tackle him down and hold him there with his body weight, trying to punch him blindly in his rage. He was pulled back by the man’s friends a few moments after, and a harsh punch right under his chest sent him straight to the ground, breathless. With the corner of his eye he could see Kazuya swaying while trying to get up and walk to help his boyfriend, but a slap across his cheek was enough to send him tumbling back. Another try made the men laugh, and with a punch to his guts and a kick to his thigh they made him fall again. Kazuya did not even try to get up again; he just curled up, clutching his guts and gasping in pain. Jin cried out again, but another blow made him collapse as soon as he tried to move toward his boyfriend.

However, they were being too loud, and just as Yoshitano rolled Jin to lay on his back with a kick one of the bartenders of the street nearby finally decided to find out what the ruckus was about. He shouted when he saw the fight, and with a few curses the group of young men rushed to leave. The bar tender gasped as he saw the two boys laying on the ground, and ran toward Kazuya. He pulled him to a sitting position, though that made the boy whimper in pain.

“Hey, boy! Are you okay? Can you stand up alone?” Kazuya tried to nod slowly, though at the end the man needed to pull him up and secure him with an arm around his waist. He threw a glance at Jin to check on him, but as the older boy was now limping toward them he centered his attention back on the one leaning against him. “Why don’t you come inside? That cut on your forehead looks nasty.”

Jin muttered his thanks to the man as he led them inside his bar. It was empty and warm, so the owner offered to take care of their wounds as he served them a couple of soft drinks. He cleaned Kazuya’s cut, that thankfully did not need any stitches, and put an aid band on it. The boy slumped over the counter as soon as the man was done, and Jin did not even dare to look at him aside from a couple of glances. He wanted to hold him and kiss his bruises away, but he was afraid to do as much as brushing his hand against the younger’s. He had just gathered courage enough to call his boyfriend when the bartender spoke again.

“Feeling better now? Who were those men? Did you know them?”

Jin squirmed uncomfortably on his stool, looking down at the counter. “I- I…”

“No. They were drunk and tried to harass us. We fought back.”

Jin turned to look at his boyfriend, bewildered, but Kazuya did not even spare him a glance. The bartender sighed as he shook his head, muttering something about rotten youths. He patted Kazuya’s shoulder lightly, smiling softly.

“I’ve called a taxi to take you home. And put that wallet away, the drinks are on the house. Just be careful next time, alright?”

They thanked him, and again when the taxi arrived before slipping inside. Jin gave the driver Kazuya’s address first, since it was the closest. It was a silent ride and Kazuya fell asleep after a few minutes, and he had to wake him up when they arrived. The boy thanked him, but left the car without another word nor the trace of a smile.

As the car started off again Jin fished out his mobile phone and plunged his earphones into it, blasting music to his already pounding head, trying not to think about the latest events. He collapsed on his bed and buried his face on the pillow, not even trying to fight back the sobs that did not take long to appear. It was well past midnight when he finally cried himself to sleep. He did not answer Kazuya’s calls the next day.
