I finished the cat toy. The cats ADORE it; Ripley wouldn't leave it alone. It's nice because it's something they can both play with at the same time. I would post a picture but my parents are borrowing my camera. I'll post one later.
On to the next project... I cast on a swatch for the Lucky Clover Lace Wrap. I went to Michaels last night, thinking I'd buy the nice Patons Grace cotton yarn, but 1) I didn't think the specifications were close enough, being that it's mercerized cotton, not four-ply and 2) it's almost $5 a skein!! Yeah, so I'm cheap... but I couldn't bring myself to pay $50 to make a sweater when I could buy it for $20, and I don't even know how it's going to turn out yet. I went with the 4-ply cotton Sugar n' Cream yarn in a light blue. It's rougher than what I imagined using but I thought it would still substitute ok. Unfortunately I haven't seen any of the Rowan cotton yarn listed in the pattern in person, so it's harder for me to make the substitution.
The problem? My gauge is off. We're talking, I'm getting a bit over 4.5" instead of 4". I'm already using a size 2 needle and I don't know how much smaller than that I can go! At the very least going down a needle size would yet again require me to buy new needles. *sigh* We'll see how it goes. Anyone have any suggestions on a less expensive substitution for Rowan 4-ply cotton? It's not too late to change my mind.
