This weekend I went to Ireland for a couple of days and then stayed a day in Paris. When will I ever be able to say words like that again? Ireland was great. Yesterday my father and I went to Chicago so that today I could pick up my student visa. We met a friend for lunch and in the evening went to see violin virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird concert at Millenium Park for free. Whenever I'm feeling down in the dumps, as I have been so often this week, I listen to this song. It's a spoof on about every modern Broadway show ever, when you think about it (anything by Jason Robert Brown especially), but if you aren't familiar with musicals made in the past ten to fifteen years, you'll still appreciate this. It's adorable.

Yesterday, after church, Miles and I drove to Dayton, OH to see Gaelic Storm in concert! For those of you who don't know who they are, they are the Irish band who played in Titanic when Jack and Rose go to the party in third class. The Decemberists were A-MAZ-ING on Friday night! Truly, truly spectacular. I'm still in awe. My Brightest Diamond opened for them, and while she's not an artist I would seek out, she has some killer pipes. She sang "Yankee Bayonet" with them later on and did very well.
