I ran to Trader Joe's tonight for mushrooms for part of our dinner (spinach & mushroom burritos). They had no mushrooms, but I bought $60 worth of other stuff and then decided to check out the new Vons (Safeway) that just opened a few doors down. Woah. This is the nicest Vons ever. Yesterday we drove up to the little mountain town of Julian, about an hour from us. We are getting remnants of Hurricane Dean, which means some areas are getting some rain and some clouds. We went to a party at the Mission Bay Yacht Club this afternoon for the people in Jeff's lab. Lyle is like the lab mascot. He had a blast playing in the sand and water. This week while my mother-in-law is in town we have been having a lot of fun. Especially Lyle. We've gone to several parks, visited the zoo, had two playdates, and gone out to eat a couple times. We went to another birthday party this weekend. The last of the babies from our Bradley class turned one.

I am not really a big fan of sweets--they're too sweet (hah) for my taste usually. But what I do love about sweets is that they are so often so pretty. Savory foods are rarely as lovely to look at.
