[for Peter] --backdated

For the moment, the house was quiet; Jon was on patrol with Robb, Lucy was at school, and Rickon, blessedly, had just gone down for a nap with a minimum of fuss. Susan felt like she had a chance to catch her breath, which was nice. There were a great many things that needed doing while Rickon napped--some clothes to be mended, clean laundry to be put away, things to be started for dinner--but Susan decided to put on some tea first before starting her chores.

Now that she and Jon had mended things between them, she thought she would feel less out of sorts, especially now that Rickon had seemed to settle himself into something resembling a schedule. But she still found herself getting upset about the most inconsequential things, or worrying for absolutely no reason, and there were days that she felt she did not find motherhood quite as fulfilling as she thought she should. She loved Rickon--there was no question about that, none at all--but sometimes...

She chose not to think about that just now, as she lit the fire and put the kettle on for tea.
