I just realized I have no idea which "de" (的 / 得 / 地) I should be using in the second sentence.

My thoughts over a first cup of coffee:

"Huh, B hasn't brought doughnuts to the office in weeks. And I suddenly have a craving. Yeah, that would kind of make my day better. Oh well."

A few minutes later, he shows up at the door with a bunch of doughnuts.

Conclusion: I have magic power to affect the universe. I should use this wisely.

零食 língshí = snacks (more literally, you're saying something like "nothing food")

Not the same thing as
小吃 xiǎochī = small dishes, small food

With 小吃 I get the impression of small foods that are interesting and regional, but I think 零食 pretty much means you've just unwrapped something with no nutritional value... or possibly flavor. That's my ( Read more... )

Beta testing this weekend, so I don't know when I'll get to anything. There are two King 2 Hearts episodes to watch, and I've got six more episodes of Smiling Proud Wanderer, and approximately 43,298 episodes of Iron Empress left to go.

Also doing a bit of random rewatching here and there. Last weekend it was LOCH and Red Chamber.

I think I haven't internalized certain things about the society portrayed in these stories. There always seem to be groups composed of decent people who want to help others. 1. Why is the music from Damo going through my head this morning?

2. Why am I listening to the Damo soundtrack today?

3. Is it that I want to watch Damo again?

4. Maybe I'm just particularly cheery today.

Earlier in the day, it's easy to ignore the not getting any sleep. As the day goes on, it's more difficult.

I think this evening I need to just watch something pretty that I don't have to think about.

1. I find myself moving warm weather clothes back into my closet

2. I see a bunny bouncing around the front yard

3. So many birds, their melodies clash into dissonance. Sometimes I miss the simple squawk of crows.
