Nobuta wo Produce, eps 1-3
I think this might be my first jdrama. I've heard good things about it, and suddenly I was in the right mood.
"I wonder if I have a small heart?"
I'm really loving these characters. They feel alive, unusual without being annoying, spare with words when they need to be.
"I never think something is fun until later on, when I remember it."
I love that Shuuji is two people, and he knows it, and one of them is constantly agreeing to do things when people need him to (nice) and yet his public mask is utterly ungenuine (not nice).
"Let's go to the haunted house. I've heard it's very moving at the end."
I love that Akira is this erratic energy moving through their lives.
"Even when you step out into the light, don't let go of their hand."
And I love that Nobuko is who she is. Always looking at the floor, except when something fascinates her and she can't look away. Always without confidence, but creative and alive behind her hair. Always bullied and alone, until an unlikely meeting.
"I was digging by myself for a long time, like a mole... underground. And then suddenly two others came up. I wonder if in the future, I'm going to suddenly meet people like this? If so, it's not going to be so bad digging by myself."
I have a feeling I'm going to wonder why this is only ten episodes. On the other hand, more episodes don't make a good story, and if you have a good story... you don't need too much time.
