The magic in this story is different... and complicated. But I like that it's not enough to be a Mistborn who can use all the metals. It's not enough to be powerful. Vin has to think, and be clever, and come up with new ways of using these tools. She's not a good bodyguard/assassin/army just because she's Mistborn, but because she thrinks through it in new ways.
And I seriously lose track of time while I'm reading this book. That's always a good sign.
I think I'm going to read book three immediately after this one, to be sure I'm mostly unspoiled... as unspoiled as I can be when I've already seen the cover.
