What is the big deal here?!
There's been lots of talk about a new law they want to pass here in Mass where once you're 85 you need to take a road test and an eye exam to continue to drive. There have been a lot of people saying that this is discrimination and that elderly people are having their rights taken away. First off I think this is a good idea. You hear all the time about accidents where the gas was mistaken for the break and in most of these cases it was an elderly driver. A little girl just got pinned to a wall and is in a medical induced coma because an 86 year old driver was trying to park his car in a school parking lot to vote and shot over a grass median and hit a little girl.
People are saying it will take their freedom away. Well if anyone of any age can't pass a road and eye test they shouldn't be driving. They are not saying when your 85 you get your license revoked, you just have to be retested. What is the big deal! I'm tired of almost getting hit in the crosswalk, in my car, honking my horn because some 90 year old can't see me. I sound like a bitch and I don't care. When I'm 85 retest me!
