He further said that her anti-trans views "haven't affected the casting or hiring of writers or productions staff".

What is he trying to imply with this? That everyone complaining is nothing to us and just a whiny bitch?

🖕🏼

Also, at this point HBO needs to cast infants to be ready by the time season 1 is actually in production at the pace HBO is releasing tv shows. Final book by 2045?

They're basically saying they had no intention of hiring trans actor
So it had no impact

No, he was asked if anyone had refused to work on the show because of her, and that was his response. It's very confusing when taken out of context. I don't know why they wrote it like that.

This seems like a bad PR statement but then again I don’t know how to spin this into an acceptable PR statement so sucks to be the HBO comms department I guess.

I think it’s less bad PR and more them understanding they don’t actually need the approval of activists to make bank bc a LOT of those so-called activists are simply all bark no bite- they’ll complain about this on twitter but they’ll still engage with this crap “out of curiosity” or “fond memories”. I’m constantly baffled by the amount of people I know/meet who are in touch with social issues but seem to think that militancy does not apply to HP bc “my childhood”.

Yup. The people who went crazy over the video game. Harry Potter has never even been a super popular video game series but I remember the timeline of JKR acting up and all of a sudden people are super invested in the game.

I took great glee in spoiling the game for many people online

Not surprising. Disney, msnbc, and now HBO slowly taking off their masks. The owners of these media giants no longer need to pretend.

I fully expect in the next five years for evangelical Christian messages to be the focal point in entertainment.

I hope the promise of cheaper eggs was worth it

Maybe this won't be made because it shows magic and isn't that very very heathen-y?

Good plan. They can scrap production and get a tax write off. Everyone wins.

And we don't have to be confronted with it.
