November 20, 2024 HBO has a Harry Potter television show in active development with author J.K. Rowling reportedly "very, very involved in the process selecting the writer and the director" according to HBO chief Casey Bloys at a press event. He further said that her anti-trans views "haven't affected the casting or hiring of writers or productions staff".
Recently, a spokesperson for HBO released a statement to Variety about Rowling's involvement in the show. "Working with J.K. Rowling and in the Harry Potter business for over 20 years [and] her contribution has been invaluable. We are proud to once again tell the story of Harry Potter - the heartwarming books that speak to power of friendship, resolve and acceptance. J.K. Rowling has a right to express her personal views. We will remain focused on the development of the new series, which will only benefit from her involvement."
Meanwhile, Rowling has made transphobia her entire personality on twitter and has recently feuded with the likes of John Oliver and Joyce Carol Oates as well as being named in a lawsuit by Olympic gold medalist boxer Imane Khelif for cyberbullying.
