>Buck finds out his boyfriend of six months, Tommy, is the very same Tommy who ran out on Abby Clark (Connie Britton's character from season one), Buck's first love.

this is so stupid lmao

it really was. Those writers need to stop taking inspiration from bizarre fan theories. Like no way did they even think of this until fans started blowing this up online based on nothing more than both characters being named "Tommy". There was zero point to this, especially when that screentime could have gone to fleshing out the breakup/relationship between those two characters.

when this theory first started i thought it doesn't make sense because abby hadn't showed signs of dating another firefighter at all and writers just browsing the internet for weird theories to put in the script is not a good look

i haven't watched this season so from my understanding of what i read buck found out about abby/tommy, freaked out and then tommy broke up with him just because writers decided it's time to pull the plug idk? i would think the actor of tommy maybe wanted to exit the show asap so they abruptly wrote his character off but it doesn't seem the case. can somebody explain the reason they broke up and what were their relationship like this season please?

Buck mostly freaked out because he was questioning Tommy's character - Abby had told him how hurt she was by this ex and Buck was upset that Tommy had been cruel and felt like he didn't know him. When he was told by Josh that actually, it was hard to be closeted, etc., Buck swung wildly the other way and asked Tommy to move in with him. Tommy felt like his and Buck's relationship always had an expiration date because he's Buck's first same-sex relationship and so he decided to break up with Buck before the relationship went any further.

Didn't make a lot of sense though and kind of came out of nowhere! But I've never felt like they have much chemistry and Tommy's always seemed vaguely contemptuous towards Buck so I'm not mad about it.

This is so dumb. I don’t even remember season 1 plot points. This is not a show where I need to recall the past mythology.

Some straight up middle schooler fanfiction bullshit. How lazy and contrite.

counter point, it was extremely funny and the hardest I’ve laughed since Tuesday. that does not take away from the dumbness though

The whole plotline/breakup in this episode was so badly written. Like, I don't think they should have broken up at all, but if that's what the writers decided to do, at least have it be something that makes sense!
