Just fyi, Charisma’s IG is private so we can’t see the post.

Anyway, I loved this show but hated when they added Fred. I still don’t understand what the point of her character was. I would honestly argue that Gunn and Wesley’s whole feud over her is part of what led to the shows downfall.

Oh my god, another Fred hater! I found her so dull. She was decent in little bits, but I wish she had never become a regular.

I'm not a fan of Fred either, and I usually don't dislike female characters, but she just bugged the shit out of me. When Cordelia died, it was crickets... but when Fred died, all the men of the show were fighting for their lives to save her, even SPIKE cared about her, and the guy who killed her went on and on about how he chose her to be Illyria's vessel because she's the most perfect woman. Whedon's bias towards Amy Acker was so painfully obvious.

And justice for the Wesley/Gunn friendship, and Wesley/Lilah. You'll never make me believe that Wesley and Fred's 5 minute long relationship was more impactful than Wesley's intense enemies-with-benefits relationship with Lilah.

The difference between Cordelia's death and Fred's death was really stark and in retrospect revealed a lot about Joss and his relationships with Charisma/Amy.

i watched angel for the first time in its entirety a few years ago after having been a btvs stan forever and was SHOCKED!!! at how good wesley/lilah was and that i had never heard anything about them despite being in the whedonverse orbit. they were soooo incredible

Same, I remember it being the same as well in the season 3 episode which introduces her parents for the first time and it looks like she’s going back with them, it literally just has all the characters sitting around bonding about how amazing Fred is and what are they going to do without her, only for her to come bursting back through the door to the rescue when the hotel gets attacked by bugs or something ( ... )

Yeah, season 4 literally has Cordelia stuck with Connor the entire time while Fred stays with the group and has a lot more to do. They both could have co-existed without sidelining Cordelia and I know a big part of what happened was because of Whedon and his dislike of Charisma, but damn it still makes me so mad.

Wesley/Lilah was so interesting and added a nice layer to Wesley's character for me tbh! I don't get why he would go for Fred other than she often seemed like a damsel.

I think Joss and Amy were friends. I didn’t follow the show during the Fred seasons, but what little I did see, I didn’t get the hype for her character.

Didn't Amy go on to work on another Whedon show? I'd believe it tbh.

She was in Dollhouse. Which if you haven’t seen it, is the epitome of Whedon’s loser guy gets the girl, but let’s throw on a coat of 2000’s feminism as a distraction trope.

She worked with him after Angel on Dollhouse, Much Ado About Nothing, and Cabin In The Woods, both she and Alexis Denisof seemed to be very much the favoured actors of Joss’s.

Amy was very much part of Joss's little clique of favoured actors

I despise Fred, she was the downfall of the show, long before Connor.

I didn't care for the love triangle. Pairing Fred & Gunn? Fine. But then making it into the weird love triangle where she later got with Wesley I didn't care for but I tend to almost always dislike love triangles. Wes/Lilah was kind of interesting though.

I'm a Fred defender, but I didn't like her pairings/attempted pairings.
