Remember when Ja Rule and Ashanti ruled the radio for a few years?

Also, underrated Nelly track that Neptunes did. Should have been a huger hit

at the time, i think he may have gotten flack for suddenly switching to pop friendly top 40 stuff, but i mean...he walked so people like Drake could run.

About a year ago, I was on a nostalgia kick and added Always On Time to my Spotify playlist.

Let me tell you, I was shocked - SHOCKED - when I realised that I had only ever heard the radio-friendly version of that song.

lolz
In some cases, i prefer a radio edit of a song. Not because i'm a prude, but i would have gotten so used to the radio version (in a lot of cases, the artist may re-record the song entirely to change words, rather than just have the original acapella track mute out the words or replace with a sound effect).

Just reminded me when I first heard the explicit version of the whisper song by the Ying Yang Twins

if you think that's scandalous, listen to the sequel song from the same album, "Pull My Hair"
It's a spiritual journey that demands you listen to it in full.

it trips me out when people are clutching their pearls at stuff like WAP, when this shit goes back to the 80s.

Did you know the radio edit of 2 Live Crew "Pop That P..." is "Pop That Coochie"

It was a song on top 40 radio. "Pop that coochie" 😭

I was reminded of this from a cassette i had of a 1991 California radio station playing it.
